AIBU to not like this male trend for beards that seems to be happening.

As an aside, it also struck me as funny that while women seem to be encouraged at the moment to take on the tiresome task of trimming hair from nether regions, men are currently being let off the bother of shaving.

YABU to think that anyone who has a "fashion beard" is doing it in order to be "let off the bother" of shaving. They have to be trimmed and they often shave around the edges too.

mrsjay · 31/05/2013 09:09

and tbf on my husband he has really sensitive skin an d it hurts for days if he has had a shave so he has always had some amount of face growth

Trills · 31/05/2013 09:10

I am not pro-beard.

I don't think it's ever unreasonable to dislike a trend. (and so I think you were wrong to post in AIBU, you don't want to know if you are unreasonable, you just want to chat)

I do think you are wrong in saying that growing a beard is the same as just not bothering to shave.

mrsjay · 31/05/2013 09:13

and how do you know that women are not shaving their neither regions and going Au natural not all women trim and prune you know .

Absy · 31/05/2013 09:19

YABU.

Men with (well tended) beards are HOT exhibit A
Exhibit B
Slightly more specialist Exhibit C

Also, moustaches are hot (see - Tom Selleck)

I prefer with a beard.

jamdonut · 31/05/2013 09:24

I agree, mrsjay!

I do underarms, and legs , cos they are the bits that might be seen(though I wear trousers most of the time, and very rarely wear tops where you can see my armpits)..but who apart from DH is going to see the other bits?!Hmm And he really doesn't mind!

Husband gave up shaving because his face used to suffer terribly despite using men's skin products. Also, he found it a faff, when he had to get up in the early hours for work ,at one point,so just decided to stop.

ScumbagCollegeDropout · 31/05/2013 09:27

Oh yes Riker with a beard.

SybilRamkin · 31/05/2013 09:55

Well, as the Bard (Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing) says:

"Lord, I could not endure a husband with a beard on his face: I had rather lie in the woollen... He that hath a beard is more than a youth, and he that hath no beard is less than a man: and he that is more than a youth is not for me, and he that is less than a man, I am not for him"

So you see, beards were a contentious issue even back in Shakespeare's day.

Each to their own, say I. Although if my DH tried to grow one he'd not be getting any kisses till he shaved it off!

UhOhChongo · 31/05/2013 10:15

How does saying women seem to be being encouraged to trim their nethers, translate into my saying they are all doing it? And of course men can do what they want with their faces! Also, I acknowledged up thread when someone mentioned the maintenance of beards, that I hadn't thought of that.

Trills honestly, does it really matter where I posted this?

Absy · 31/05/2013 10:17

Though, like others on this thread, most of the males in my family have beards so maybe the beard love has something to do with that.

VulvaVoom · 31/05/2013 10:34

My DH has had a beard for about 7 years now, he looks very handsome. His DF was astounded that he wouldn't be shaving it off for our wedding!

He accidently put his beard trimmer on a shave setting just before Xmas and had to virtually go back to stubble or be left with a shaved line over half his face I did not like it at all.

OxfordBags · 31/05/2013 10:39

I rarely fancy a clean-shaven man, beards do it for me! And beards are hardly a current trend, FFS!

And all you beard haters, until you've received cunnilingus off a beardy guy, you've never lived. Just sayin' Wink

Latara · 31/05/2013 10:59

YANBU, sorry i'm not keen on beards at all.

I see too many scruffy beards on older men in my job, am desperate to be allowed to shave them all off and give them decent haircuts but it's not possible :(

seasalt · 31/05/2013 11:04

Love beardy men.

Lovecat · 31/05/2013 11:07

DH is baby-faced and grew a beard once during his study leave.

It was orange.

Together with his baby cheeks he looked like Henry VII. It was not a good look.

We agreed never to speak of it again (you lot don't count, right?Wink)

ElectricalBanana · 31/05/2013 13:38

my DH has very long hair in beautiful ringlets, he has a lovely beard too.........he does it for me.

LittleMissLucy · 31/05/2013 21:02

I had a long term BF with lovely thick ringlets too. I loved his hair. We split up and years later he is now bald as an eagle.
