AIBU to not like this male trend for beards that seems to be happening.

As an aside, it also struck me as funny that while women seem to be encouraged at the moment to take on the tiresome task of trimming hair from nether regions, men are currently being let off the bother of shaving.

Aw I thought this was a thread about gay men having a pretend girlfriend.

mrscumberbatch · 30/05/2013 22:45

Rollercola, a wee bit of shaping is good but a good conditioning regime is important!

beardsley

My dp gets the beardsley stuff and it smells lovely.

Hate unkempt beards but a well thought out beard or moustache is great Grin

HorryIsUpduffed · 30/05/2013 22:46

Richard Armitage rocks the beard.

I make DH shave though, because beards are tickly close up.

ShatnersBassoon · 30/05/2013 22:50

A basic beard doesn't bother me, but I dislike the chinstrap beards that seem to be popular. A tidy beard seems to defeat the object of sporting a beard ie it is no lazier than clean shaving every day.

CheapBread · 30/05/2013 22:52

Isn't it a sign o' the economic times? No money/jobs =long hair, beards, second hand stuff etc. Like the 70s. Although beards are masquerading under the hipster trend, it's actually lead by the financial situation.
OTH Dh says beards are for lazy men that can't be arsed to shave.

UhOhChongo · 30/05/2013 22:54

Herrena I leave my nethers to their own devices fwiw, so def would not be shocked Smile

Baby Ha ha.

Also, agree some men do suit beards. Not sure what makes it work for some and not others.

I like my husband with a beard.

He admits he looks like he's about 12 without one.

MrsBungle · 30/05/2013 22:57

Lots of beard lovers here! I am not a fan of beards especially these fashionable designer ones that look like they have been cultivated into shape.

I'm not a fan of beards (remind me of my dad) but I do like a nice moustache.

my husband always had one and I thought I didn't like it. I went on and on and on at him to shave it off. Eventually, just to shut me up, he did.

He looked AWFUL. Just awful.

But because I'd basically bullied him into shaving it off, I (felt I) had to pretend I liked it. Bless him, he kept it off for a long time, just for me.

When he finally started to grow it again, I was so happy. Grin

I finally confessed and he laughed himself silly.

honeytea · 30/05/2013 22:59

Yanbu.

I especially dislike the bright orange beard my dp has decide out of the blue to grow. Dp has distinctly muddy blonde/mousy brown hair which makes the bright orange beard look even stranger.

I have taken to calling dp pirate red beard in the hope that he will get annoyed with the new nick name and shave but he seems to be becoming fond of the new name.

~Self professed pogonophile
I occasionally start threads about beards just so I can talk about them

Scruffey · 30/05/2013 23:00

Yanbu. Beards scratch.

mrscumberbatch · 30/05/2013 23:05

I think it's a good trend. It's a bit like 'Let Men Be Men' Wink

I have joined the facebook group for the newly formed Glasgow Beard and Moustache Club.... it may just be to ogle hairy men though Grin

It's not for everyone but it can really just finish off a chap's face nicely!

I did once go to the World Beard and Moustache Championships held in Brighton. I was certainly fascinated by those beards! They were amazing.

GibberTheMonkey · 30/05/2013 23:10

Where have you all been, for a long time I've been one of the only beard lovers. Now theyre popping out of the woodwork every where

That reminds me I took a bit of a break. Where sillydaddybeardyman or whatever his name was gone?

mrscumberbatch · 30/05/2013 23:14

MrsBungle we were in Brighton last year for the first UK championships Grin

Off to Germany this year for the World Championships.....

It's all a bit barmy really but good fun.

quesadilla · 30/05/2013 23:18

Have always hated them. They make men at best look farty and unkempt and at worst like they are having a masculinity crisis. Some men can just about carry them off but no man in the history of the world has ever been improved by a beard.

Love the beard resurgence! Makes me all warm and happy seeing furry beardy men. I must announce to my colleagues at least twice a week how pleased I am with all these beards on my commute. Smile

GibberTheMonkey · 30/05/2013 23:20

unkempt?

When you have products like this ?
Beards can be as different and varied as clothes taste. You can't lump them all in together

(not my company)

quesadilla · 30/05/2013 23:23

Gibber sorry, no. A tidy beard is even worse. Also what's the point, really? If you want to groom it then why not just shave the fucking thing off?
