to not be able to articulate the intense dislike mixed up with pity and outrage I feel towards people who take photos of their bodies and post them on the internet?

I suppose the immediate response will be "You're just jealous" and, yes, of course I am jealous (in a minor way) of the young and slim and beautiful.

But it is SO VACUOUS!

Agreed?

Do you mean like this?

Instagram , tumblr , reddit even twitter, but not FB.

Thank you! I have Instagram and I mainly follow fellow vegans who post food porn for me to steal. But there was one who I HAD to delete. She kept posting photos of her body in a bikini or underwear and the caption was all 'I'm not doing this to show off, this is to inspire you. This is all through a healthy vegan diet and exercise' etc Angry. Just annoyed me, I wouldn"t dream of posting a full on bikini shot even if I was a size 6.

Otoh there's a woman I have on there who posted side shots of her body before she turned vegan and then throughout the months of her weight loss. She was big before with a tummy overhang and now has a flat stomach. I wasn't bothered by this because I didn't feel like it was showing off in any way. They were side shots for starters and she was showing an inspiring weight loss iykwim. It wasn't all 'Hey everyone look at me in my underwear, i'm so sexy!'

I know a couple of people who do this but they are training their bodies so the pictures are s good measure of how they are doing, one makes money from it so it brings in personal training business for her. One friend does it and I should hate him for it but he's lovely so I don't mind

just random body shots when you haven't worked hard to change your body, that annoys me. I know a few people who change their picture almost daily

Sleep404 · 30/05/2013 09:55

My friend who is really very nice but has always been a bit, "I'm beautiful, you know", updates her Facebook profile pic every few months with professional pics. I have lost real touch with her so wonder if she is in some sort of industry where this is necessary.
What is more laughable are the comments; beautiful, babe, hot, etc.

mumofthemonsters808 · 30/05/2013 09:59

I thought I'd seen it all until yesterday when a photo of a naked pregnant friend appeared in a Demi Moore style pose

SueDnym · 30/05/2013 10:30

I post "selfies" every day. But I'm in the beauty industry (in my forties), so you know ... diff'rent strokes and all that.

If you don't like it, then don't DO it. Simples!

tropicaldream · 30/05/2013 11:33

I have a few friends on FB who do this, it doesn't bother me. As a former anorexic I am pleased to see my friends are happy with their bodies. It certainly doesn't mean they're vacuous or thick though; their occupations include a software engineer, a senior charity fundraiser, artistic director and my best friend who recently finished her Mathematics PhD!

BaronessBomburst · 30/05/2013 11:45

"Selfies". I've learned something today.

I don't know anyone who does this but I think if one appeared on my FB I'd just PML. I don't understand why anyone would feel outraged?

SueDnym · 30/05/2013 12:14

People like being outraged. And, apparently, don't like their friends.

fromparistoberlin · 30/05/2013 14:46

if I was 21, young and sexy I'd so a selfie, or ten

just saying...

fromparistoberlin · 30/05/2013 14:48

PATPIG

thats sooooo naughty!!!!! needed a warning, I am at work!!!!

TheBigJessie · 30/05/2013 14:57

A couple of friends have posted attention-seeking photos that got removed by facebook for breaking regulations.

Do I win?

meddie · 30/05/2013 15:01

Its self absorbed yes. but not as silly as the side glance duck face shots.
