to think our Prime Minister and his family are entitled to a summer holiday abroad?

Heaven knows I loathe the man's policies but surely he and his family are entitled to a week or two in the sun? A couple of nutters murdered an innocent man but he'd just be giving more publicity to their "cause" if he cancelled his family trip to Ibiza?

When pursuing role of pm Sam and dave knew the rigours, the demand, the stress
when he done being pm he'll do tours, consultations,CEO roles all highly paid
intrinsic part of his pm role is flexibility, adaptability and that includes change holiday

TheFallenNinja · 27/05/2013 18:40

YANBU. I'm hoping might bring me back some duty free fags (don't tell George)

marjproops · 27/05/2013 18:49

at least obamas gone to the devastation in America, not swanned off on hols when hes needed there.

frostyfingers · 27/05/2013 18:55

Do you really think that he's turned his phone off and said "don't bother me I'm on holiday"? I suspect that he's probably working almost as hard there as he does in the office, it's just that for a short time he's in Spain. Big deal. He could be back in the UK in a couple of hours if necessary.

I imagine that if he didn't take a break occasionally he'd be accused of being a bad parent and putting his job before his family. If he'd been seen publicly parading in Woolwich there would also be accusations of taking the limelight away.

I'm not a fan, but FGS why shouldn't he take a break with his family?

TheFallenNinja · 27/05/2013 18:57

I think it probably crossed his mind, he weighed up the wrath of the electorate vs the wrath of his wife.

He took the easiest way.

Salbertina · 27/05/2013 19:04

There was no devastation in woolwich!! Just 2 violent misfits masquerading as terrorists! Would be laughable if they hadn't ended up murdering someone.

marjproops · 27/05/2013 19:19

it was devastating enough for the victims family and community.

I know Dc cant win either way but still.....

SuburbanRhonda · 27/05/2013 21:21

So when do they stop putting the DCs in front of the camera, excusetypos? We had lots of their baby girl at the beginning, didn't we?

And the Blair children were always in the public eye.

I just wish Gove had gone, too, and got lost in a desert somewhere.

Sparrowp · 28/05/2013 02:40

No he is not entitled to a foreign summer holiday. If he wants to fuck off abroad he should fuck off and stay there the useless fuckwit.

fromparistoberlin · 28/05/2013 09:06

I agree, he is PM whenever he takes his holiday will be shit timing

what can he do in the UK? another silly cobra meeting

fromparistoberlin · 28/05/2013 09:07

"devastation in America"

yes, but thats was MAJOR, Woolwich was highly upsetting but lets face it boys get stabbed on London streets every fucking day

angelos02 · 28/05/2013 09:38

It would never have occurred to me to question him going on holiday. Even if he'd stayed on a private island in the carribean. He's a multi millionaire. He could probably earn much more money in a different role to that of PM given his background.

SuburbanRhonda · 28/05/2013 10:50

He probably owns Ibiza, come to think of it Angry

Oblomov · 28/05/2013 11:02

This made me REALLY cross. And I am not a DC fan. Of course the man is entitled to a holiday. FGS.

Oblomov · 28/05/2013 11:04

HollyBerry have you been to IBiza? To the NE side? beautiful. We have been 3 times and had our best holidays there. Is NOT a shithole.

Jengnr · 28/05/2013 11:08

Cameron's a massive cunt and normally I'd like any excuse to criticise but this is a serious non story. He's gone on holiday with his family.

As for the 'he ought to be here' crew, why? Why this murder? Why this family? He doesn't routinely visit families of murder victims so why should he be there for this one?

musu · 28/05/2013 11:10

I'm off on a rainy camping trip for the rest of this week (well hoping the forecast changes of course). I don't resent DC's holiday in Ibiza. How many people have jobs that are 24/7 like his? I have a job where I am expected to be available 24/7 but when I'm on holiday I do my level best to be on holiday. If not then ds has to amuse himself whilst I answer emails, which isn't fair on him. It isn't easy though and I don't have to deal with the press wanting to photograph me on my holiday (thank heavens Grin).

MidniteScribbler · 28/05/2013 11:17

I've never been to Ibiza, but I'm going to assume they have telephones? The Internet? Television? With all the modern technology around these days, it's a pretty safe bet that he's still spending a good portion of his day dealing with the affairs of state in between trying to spend a few minutes with his family.

Some people hate just for the sake of hating.

claig · 28/05/2013 11:18

Littlejohn in the Mail today seems to take a different view. He says politics is about image.

Alisvolatpropiis · 28/05/2013 11:20

Everybody getting upset about DC being on holiday seem to have forgotten that Nick Clegg is still in the UK. The deputy PM. Nobody is getting bent out of shape about his "lack of visibility" are they?

I don't think there is any complacency re Lee Rigby's death. I do think there is a deliberate decision not to publicly overreact (the paper media are an exception). It's playing in to the hands of terrorists to give them a big reaction.

Also, does anybody seriously think DC is chilling out 24/7 without his Blackberry at close quarters? Really?

Alisvolatpropiis · 28/05/2013 11:22

There is an irony in him being so keen to get off on his hols whilst he simultaneously runs a government that are attacking certain professsions for having too much time off though.

Flobbadobs · 28/05/2013 11:25

There's nothing he can't deal with over there that he couldn't sort here. E'll be in constant contact via email and phone and will still have taken paperwork with him.
In Alistair Campbell's diaries he writes about the amount of work Tony Blair dealt with while on holiday (noth here and abroad), DC will be the same. they are never off duty. I don't like Cherie Blair at all but I had a fair amount of sympathy with her while reading the holiday parts!
Ayway it's not like they could have taken the kids away next week is it?
YANBU. What can he actually do? Apart from get in the way of the police??

No issue with him taking a family holiday in half term at all. Why would I? I have no issue with anyone taking time off and having a holiday with their family regardless of their income or occupation.

And it is only Ibiza. He is not at the other side of the world or in the middle of nowhere with no form of communication.

I suspect like many other working people on holiday, especially those with higher levels of responsibility, he will be checking in regularly, responding to phone calls and emails, etc and being kept in the loop. If there was a huge emergency he is close enough to be back in the Uk within a few hours.

TBh when you have a job like PM there is probably no ideal time to be away is there? There will always be something, somewhere, he could be attending.

As for those who think that the PM shouldn't be going on any abroad holidays, or even any holidays at all, because he should think of those who can't afford it - really? You think ANY politician of ANY party would be doing that? Really?
