as it's happening here now :( Shock. I have posted on several threads in my limited time here in the last few weeks and a fair few have been deleted as they were started by frogs, badgers and hares

is this an affliction that only I have been blessed with? Confused

There's a racist one beginning with C, but you don't hear it much any more.
Is "crackers" offensive in this context?

Baby Thanks Confused It wasn't about you but take offense all you want.

Jesus cant say anything on MN without someone making up a way to be offended

Owl To get back on track, I too attract the oddest of people. My best has to have been the time I was the only person on the bus apart from the driver and a man came and sat down next to me. He was wearing a tight shiny mini skirt, not long enough to cover the bulge in his leopard print pants, a halter neck top and a coat. He sat legs apart and introduced himself in the gruffest of voices as Alice... The rest of the conversation doesn't deserve remembering. Only in Brighton

JesusInTheCabbageVan Its actually a HATE CRIME to mock a disabled person

I have, during my moderately eventful life been described variously as a space case, nut job, freak, head case, fruitloop, nutter (I'm sure others can add a few). Mainly by dull, tedious sorts of people so it hasn't bothered me too much.

Now it's not for me to tell others what they can and can't find offensive. But I do struggle to find anything offensive in a mild mannered comment about "weirdos" that was not intended maliciously.

Maybe this will help

Best,

Nutter / weirdo etc.

You can be weird without having mental health problems. And you can have mental health problems without being weird. Rather obviously, I thought...

Oh FFS Babyheave, no-one is having a go at people with MH issues. The vast majority of these bus weirdos are pissed people with questionable personal hygiene, nothing more. Go and look for something else to be offended by, or start your own thread.

Well I have a tale of being thought of as the weirdo :o

I get asked directions at bus stops alot god knows why as clearly if I'm waiting for a bus there's a good chance I'm not from round here

So any way a woman pulls in and gets out car looking a bit confused. I go over thinking if she's lost I can perhaps use google maps on my iPhone to
Help her find the road she's looking for. She literally looks at me and asks "what's the problem". She apologised when I explained I thought she was going to ask for directions. Clearly not just a weirdo but a scary weirdo Blush

It has fuck all to do with MH issues.

A drunk man came up to me while I was out and turned me round and licked all my face. He was a pissed nutter. Nothing to do with MH issues that.

Really TheSmallClanger?

Why would I go and start my own thead? I'm challenging the posts here and IIRC its bad form to start a thread about a thread isn't it.

Maybe you can't see a problem calling people loons and weirdos and nutters, but I can challenge it if I want to.

You're not challenging anything. You are being sanctimonious.

Baby Yes it was because what she was saying were the words of a loon. Bringing up someone's disabled daughter after talking about been bullied?! Have you read the thread Baby? Sugar lost her argument after that.

Thank you, babyheave.

SP- it was nothing personal about Owl's daughter, I was NOT calling her names, or any disabled people, and it was Owl who bought up the subject of her daughter, not me.

I agree, there is no need to get personal about peoples' children

Yes Owl mentioned her daughter and you went on to say the pariah post. I wasn't the only one who told you it was out of order. You were told several times by a few people there was no offense in the thread and it was about random people yet you carried on about about racism and disabled people when it had fuck all to do with the thread.

Owl-

Lets hope nobody ever treats your daughter like a pariah then, for being severely disabled

^ that was your post sugar how is that not about Owls daughter?

Report
SugarMouse1 · 21/05/2013 12:52

Jesus-

Owl shouldn't have bought it up, I DIDN'T!

SPs-

I did ask people to define what they meant by 'weirdo'. To some it is as offensive a term as those other words that can be used against various groups.

Just to hoist this thread back to the lovely, lighthearted tenor which the OP intended:

Owllady, I was just on my way to pick DC up from school, when an old man stopped me with a twinkle in his eye and said, "It is the time of the Sphinx you know" then walked on by.

Why?

Report
SPsCliffingAllOverMN · 21/05/2013 12:56

It was obvious how everyone meant weirdo sugar yet you went on about people with disabilities and racism when it was nothing remotely like that. People have also shared their own personal MH stories yet you went on.

I was fine with you til the comment about owls daughter.
