as it's happening here now :( Shock. I have posted on several threads in my limited time here in the last few weeks and a fair few have been deleted as they were started by frogs, badgers and hares

is this an affliction that only I have been blessed with? Confused

I know a man with MS who calls himself a 'cripple' to the bus driver and various people.

I am so tired of every slightly amusing thread around here being derailed by the permanently offended gang. Bore off eh?

Ok, I'll bite.

I suffer with anxiety which is currently well controlled with medication and also had severe (like had to be hospitalised severe) PND. I also suspect I might be a bit aspy.

I'm very sorry you were bullied Sugar. I was bullied at school for (you guessed it) being "weird" and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I didn't take the OP to be anything other than light hearted and I do think you are looking for offence where absolutely non was intended

It was actually my friend that refers to them as weirdos anyway
< absconds responsibility>

I have apologised and I don't particularly want to rake over my mental health history, so I will leave you to it if this is making you feel better as I need to go to the chemist.

Again, sorry if I have offended anyone, I am always very nice and kind to people but I do have many stories to tell having been told many :)

Lets hope nobody ever treats your daughter like a pariah then, for being severely disabled

What the fuck? What would make you think it's OK to say something like that? I'm biting my tongue so hard it's practically dangling by a thread right now.

OwlLady Thanks I admire your dignity and restraint.

The only person being bullying or offensive on this thread is you, SugarMouse1. And the fact that you have been bullied yourself is not some kind of trump card that allows you to be unpleasant to the OP and other people on this thread.

People like to confide in me for some reason. Often in really inappropriate situations, like while I'm searching their bag at work or trying to get my DD out of a shop. Sometimes it does lead to some interesting conversations, but the contexts are often not ideal.

I used to attract some interesting people when I was younger, but I am far better at giving out weapons-grade fuck off vibes when I'm alone now. I do not wish to be interrogated repeatedly as to whether I'm "alright", or where I am going, by pissed old men who stink, at railway stations. If that makes me stinkypissedoldmanist, then so be it.

Wow not just on buses eh OP?

Its different if bullying affected you so badly that you had to give up on your education.

Some of you on here have been there with unusual behaviour due to mental illness, would you have felt better if someone had then bullied you for it?

And no, Jesus, I don't want the OP to get a pasting, I'm just giving my opinion on why the term is unacceptable and I really don't like it.

Incidentally, if someone used the N-word, P-word, C-word or those disablist words to me I wouldn't be offended at all, becuase I am not any of those things (although c-word is sexist language), but that DOES NOT mean its okay to use those words day to day!

JesusInTheCabbageVan

Its actually a HATE CRIME to mock a disabled person

So, if people are doing it, they'd have to at least be discreet I guess, otherwise its a criminal offence

Annyywayyy, to get back to the original thread topic, what's your best encounter OP?

A colleague of mine once struck up a conversation with a distinguished old gent who looked perfectly friendly and normal. Until about 5 minutes in he started declaiming that he was the ruler of the universe and Queen Elizabeth had usurped him. Colleague said he was a lovely man, just had this one area of delusion that obviously surfaced before too long.

SPsCliffing

Either come up with a proper, reasoned argument and stop acting like a stupid, spoilt child telling people to 'fuck-off' just because they disagree with you or just don't post

I am entitled to give my opinion on this thread, just as people are entitled to disagree

To be fair, I always get a bit ansty with threads about nutters and weirdos.

I suppose if you've been described as that because you have a mental illness and you go onto a thread where people are taking the piss out of someone who have MH conditions, then you would kind of feel that way.

But hey, its lighthearted, right? Its OK to take the piss out of people right?

Did I tell you about the time I got stuck on a bus next to a fucking Cripple? Jeez. His wheelchair was taking up so much space and he wanted to talk to me. God I always attract them.
