as it's happening here now :( Shock. I have posted on several threads in my limited time here in the last few weeks and a fair few have been deleted as they were started by frogs, badgers and hares

is this an affliction that only I have been blessed with? Confused

I seem to attract people on the bus who have no idea what personal space is! No I don't want your bum cheek resting on my leg thank you :o

I am a weirdo, known for it.

I try not to talk to people on buses though. Actually I usually can't get a word in edgeways.

I quite like chatting to the bus folk so long as they are not too scary. I like to hear about what they are having for tea or what their grandchildren got in their exams. I always ask if I can save the boiled sweet until later though.

Btw has anybody been following the debate on DSM 5, seems like there is a strong groundswell against ever more things being diagnosed as MH diseases when it's more likely they are within norms of human behaviour.

I had a lady ask then strenuously disagree with me when she asked when the baby was due when preg with DD. Apparently, she felt it in her bones that the baby was a boy and that it would be born on a certain date two months after my due date Shock She was very insistent and looked mortally offended when I smiled and said I hoped I didn't go eight weeks overdue! She had five children didn't I know, and proceeded to tell me about the births of each.

Being pregnant definately increases the number of conversations with strangers I found, so it follows that more strange conversations will be had! Smile

Jeez, I came on here to make a 'ha ha, I attract freaks and weirdos on the bus too' type comment but now I'm not sure I dare!

My mum attracts all kinds of life stories, confessions, mutterings and waifs and strays- and I've inherited the gene.

When I was younger, I used to get drunks and weird men talking to me all the time. Now, I get old ladys demanding I choose a new chopping board for them based on their detailed requirments and then carry it to the til for them and many a random shop queue conversation. Once at work I had a ten minute perfectly normal relevant converation with a man, which turned weird the moment he reached down his shirt to retrieve an actual flying squirrel, looked me in the eye and said 'wotcha think of that then'. Shock.

Of all people I (or my mum) have random conversations with, most are unremarkable, some are with people with mental health problems, some with disabilities. Some are old, frail, young, distressed, pissed, scared, lack boundaries, injured, eccentric, lost, in varying combinations. And, without sounding smug, I am nice and never decide I cba or am too good to talk to anyone. Maybe that's why me and my mum have some stories about 'weirdos' to tell, because we are nice enough to hear them. Please, the killjoys on this thread, allow us a little chuckle about our strange encounters, because too many people just walk away or openly and rudely ignore the 'weirdos' in the first place.

Since the other day, I started talking to a guy on the bus and the conversation did get on to whether the illuminati are real or not and how you can lose days by going on the David Icke forum, does that make me the public transport nutter?
In my defense, it was a night bus and we had just been on the same train back from Brighton.

I seem to attract people who like to tell me about why they have no contact with their children - possibly including what SS said in the court case Confused if they had MH issues I feel confident they would have told me!

I much prefer the old men telling me all about their grandchildren, and other non-oversharing conversation topics.

Do you have "lame duck"-itus ? Grin

I waddled with a limp for years, and I think it might leave a....vibration or something. Other limping quacky people make a beeline for me.

Most likely they see a kindred spirit and are resonable sure the reception will be fairly unthreatening or violent.

My best on the bus one was on the way to the shops; a gentleman who was obviously somewhat the worse for wear got on, turned round and immediate began telling me about his sojourn in the "big Bar-L" (this is a Scots slang term for Barlinnie, a notorious Scottish prison). He then stood up and began serenading the bus with a selection of old classics.

I spent the majority of the bus journey paralysed with fear Grin .

my nana attracts the same sort of behaviour, especially on public transport Grin

I however must have a dodgy look about me, because when I offer to help I am shunned. I offered to help lift the shopping basket of an older woman up on to the checkout to save the cashier walking around and the queue getting even longer and she said "NO! My purse is in there! DON'T TOUCH IT!" [does best criminal-face. fails]
