to really hate Universal Jobmatch?

Loulybelle · 20/05/2013 14:38

Im on JSA, and they like you to sign onto Jobmatch, so i did, but i had issues with the account, couldnt get into it, made another, then had an issue with that, email the helpdesk, their advice was to make another email account or wait til the clear the inactive accounts, so i've made another, did a CV on it, and now that account has been lost too. So im gonna have to do this all over again.

They say it'll help me find work, well it wont if i cant get into my account, and see if Employers have contacted me.

Anyone else had an isssue.

The real benefit fraudsters who have no intention of getting a job know every trick in the book and get away with it. JC staff must see that but it's far easier to pick on the vulnerable and those that have no idea how the system works.

wayneypayney · 21/01/2014 00:45

well i just unticked the box that lets dwp look at my jobsearch, just waiting for a letter off em to say your jobseeker has a sanction,
which i know i will get within a week or two.
then i have wait 2 weeks to apply for hardship allowance, if i get it i have wait another week or two, for a payment
another 13 weeks with no money, no gas, no electric and no food.
jobcentre's answer is go to a food bank.
load of balls.

wayneypayney · 21/01/2014 00:49

ive had 5 jobmatch accounts, with 5 different emails, no logins show up, no job searches show up, and no jobs ive applied for show up.

wayneypayney · 21/01/2014 00:54

universal jobmatch is one big scam

wayneypayney · 21/01/2014 01:05

i applied for 1 job on universal jobmatch and had a reply off it, they said congratulations you have a job, i just got send them £170 for a starter kit and they will post all the details in a letter.

wayneypayney · 21/01/2014 01:15

another time i posted all my details on universal jobmatch, had a fraudster get all my details, and had my bank account cleared out, i got the money back in the end, but in the last 3 months, ive had change my bank account 3 times.

1 big scam universal jobmatch, they sanction you if you dont look for work, and they sanction you if you do.

wayneypayney · 21/01/2014 01:39

ok at the jobcentre today, my advisore did a quick jobsearch on google for warehouse jobs and found 325 pages, yes pages not jobs but pages, about 3000 jobs or more and said i should of applied for all of them in 2 weeks.

Bogeyface · 21/01/2014 01:43

We have had no end of trouble with it.

H is currently laid off so we are signing on again :( both looking and both using this shite system. You have to go on and job search in order to get your JSA but there is never anything worth applying for, most of the job are either avon, self employed market reasearch or HVG drivers!

There is never anything worth having, we only find things worth applying for on indeed or totaljobs.

SabraCadabra · 21/01/2014 04:05

Its total pants, the old system was much better. I write down my job search instead and just say ive no internet access.

ilovesooty · 21/01/2014 05:34

The trouble is that many advisors expect you to use the library for Internet access and make setting up an email account and applying for jobs online a mandatory activity.

It is possible to use Universal Job match in such a way that you can avoid sanction but I have had to devote many hours of intensive work with clients to help them through it. No way are most of them knowledgeable enough or aware enough to do it without help and JCP know that a lot of their clients are easy targets for sanction and treat them accordingly unfortunately. Not all advisors are unscrupulous but many are.

grumpyoldbat · 21/01/2014 06:38

YANBU, it's awful.

Search for local jobs and it throws up jobs several hundred miles away. Seriously! Who's going to commute 1000miles a day or relocate 500miles for a 10hr a week NMW job and how would anyone be able to afford that?

Get x number or returned results yet a large percentage are duplicates that you've already applied for even though you hated the look of the job.

Jobs still there over a month after the closing date. Sometimes without the closing date stated so you make a complete fool of yourself and make yourself look bad if you were to apply for another job at that company. As if job hunting isn't difficult or humiliating enough.

Wrong contact details for making applications eg incomplete phone numbers.

If you dare to complain they imply you're just to stupid to use the site or tell you that you're being inflexible and give you a condescending lecture on why you should work. Angry

LadyBeagleEyes · 21/01/2014 10:44

I have a Highland postcode and live in a very remote area with no jobs, if one comes up I know through word of mouth as the village is so small.
I've been job matched for hotel work 100 miles away, yes sure I'm going of to clean rooms in Aviemore with a 200 round trip and no car or public transport.
But I'm expected to apply just to fit in their criteria.
I'm sure JC staff have targets of how many people to sanction each week to massage the unemployment figures.
It took me weeks to sort out my HB/council tax after too after my sanction. I'm on ESA with cancer now and it took my Macmillan nurse and a very understanding HA to get it sorted.

wayneypayney · 22/01/2014 01:00

universal jobmatch is 1 big scam
scamming people out of their money.
i dont want jobseekers allowance
i just want stop on hardship payment, permanently
they cant even do that
all jobcentre staff are useless.
everytime i go in jobcentre staff are either drinking tea or coffee, having a talk about where they went last night or disappear for 20 mins.

wayneypayney · 22/01/2014 02:05

jobcentre staff dont help you get a job, they hinder you.
example
i got a job thru jobcentre about 3 years ago, crap job anyway.
went job interview, they said the jobs yours, when can you start, i said monday.
i got my jobseekers on monday and needed busfair etc.
went jobcentre on the friday to sign off, and they said you wont be getting no jobsseekers allowance on monday, you should of started work yesterday not monday,
youve refused a job and no jobseekers allowance for you.
ME, i havent refused a job, i start monday.
JOBCENTRE, i dont care, could of started yesterday, not monday.

no money for months, and a sanction on money to go with it.

wayneypayney · 22/01/2014 02:12

why is it when you go the jobcentre a few of the staff dont even ask for your jobsearch, your in and out in 2 minutes.

but then you go in another time and you get THE BASTARD, he checks every date, every job, its like sitting in the police station, for a serious crime you havent committed, times dates, where you were, what you were doing, etc

grumpyoldbat · 22/01/2014 05:54

I've come to the conclusion it's a punishment tool. Punishment for being made redundant.

It is no help whatsoever, they want you to spend 40hrs a week on it, some advisors significantly more. Like the advisor above wanting 1 application ever 6 seconds 24/7 for a fortnight. Yet the only chance of actually getting a job is to look elsewhere and to spend a reasonable amount of time on the application to get it right. So I wholeheartedly agree it's a massive hinderence to employment.

LightastheBreeze · 22/01/2014 06:07

I agree its a massive hindrance and pity the poor employer who has to sift through all the applications of the people wanting to avoid sanctions by having to apply for anything just to placate the Job Centre.

When I use the JC about 3 years ago they didn't seem to care what I applied for as long as the applications were the right amount for the fortnight. I ended up just pressing the send button for any old job just to get my numbers up and was seen by the JC as being a very good person with lots of applications on my list Hmm

I did get a job but it was one which I would have found anyway without all this random sending of applications.

What a load of rubbish UJM is! Trying to apply for jobs for the hubby and it keeps asking to login- despite his name being in the top corner so he's logged in. Then when trying to apply for a job, it directs him to the profile page (as though he needs to sign up for a new account- although he has already done this!! AAAARRRHHHH!!!! Going round in circles here. And to top it all off, the job centre will probably have a go at him for not applying for jobs. What a joke!!!
