to be slightly addicted to AIBU?

I am a (happily) childless (gay) man.

I left a message on Mumsnet because I wanted some advice on books for my god daughter. While on, I had a quick peek at AIBU and have been addicted ever since. I always have a 20 minute browse before going to sleep.

My DCP (darling civil partner -I'm trying to start a new term) thinks that:

a. It is weird that I find it so interesting.
b. I am not welcome as I am not a mum nor female

It came to a head last night when I was crying with laughter in bed over the hamwidge thread. It was impossible to explain.

AIBU and, indeed, am I welcome?

Welcome, you will laugh, cry and get the most amazing advice. Also be shot down in flames sometimes all in one thread.

Do pop into the Drunk Thread on a Friday, we have Wine and go on all sorts of virtual pub crawls.

Do not google anything, that you are advised to Shock

MardyBra · 14/05/2013 21:59

"Do not google anything, that you are advised to"

Apart from dragon butter or munting.

MardyBra · 14/05/2013 21:59

Welcome btw.

MardyBra · 14/05/2013 22:02

The "active" button up there is useful for keeping up with whatever's current. There's an interesting^ thread in Relationships at the moment about a one night stand.

SisterMatic · 14/05/2013 22:05

Muahaha welcome, you will never leave

MardyBra · 14/05/2013 22:07

and never click on unspecified links

HerrenaHarridan · 14/05/2013 22:13

Of course you welcome!

If you want to get dcp hooked show him the duck thread in classics, or the one about the kid living in the car

I wish I had found mn before actually having dd sprogs take up so much mn time I would have been much better prepared for the never ending newborn stage that's gone in a flash, I would have found breastfeeding a lot easier and I would have LTB a lot sooner!

RaspberryRuffle · 14/05/2013 22:16

Oh dear...I'm a bit addicted to AIBU and hadn't heard of the Drunk thread before...I'm afraid that will be even more time looking at this website. DH said it´s a load of shit, then I caught him reading some AIBU (though not as avidly as me).
You are a bit unreasonable to want to start ûsing DCP but only because I think you should be able to have a DH.

MummyBurrows · 14/05/2013 22:31

I'm pretty new to mums net (Ido have a child) now curious though, where do I find "classics"??

BlatantRedhead · 14/05/2013 22:33

"Do not google anything, that you are advised to" - includes Blue Waffle. Learned this the hard way Shock

Well, as relative newbie myself YANBU. I always click on the "active" link and it almost always draws me to "Chat" or "AIBU". I do have occasional short breaks in the outer flung areas of MN. I'm also male and I have been unashamedly extolling MN's virtues to select associates. I am male and I am proud.

KittensandKids · 14/05/2013 22:58

YANBU

LTB

MrsWembley · 14/05/2013 23:09

YY, YANBU!

YY, go take a look in Classics.

YY, pop in to the Drunk Thread on a Friday night...

MoonlightandRoses · 14/05/2013 23:32

As another poster said YABU for being only "slightly" addicted. Other than that - welcome to Hotel California. Grin

MummyB - Classics link here if you want it.
