regarding money spent in work canteen

My husband takes out 20 pound a week to have money on his pocket. I do most of the food shopping in the day as in a SAHM at the moment but he always tells me what he wants me to get for him for his food for work which I do get. So his work food is budgeted into the weekly shop.

We got into a disagreement as he spent 10 pound in 2 days and the other 10 pound he had given to me to get some shopping he had taken back as he had no money in his pocket. I know I probably sound like in trying to tell him how to spend money but it's not like that, some months we struggle to get to the end of the month and we haven't had a holiday in 3 years. We also never go out to eat together or any luxury like that and I think if he didn't take so much money out just to spend at work we could maybe go away or something nice. He disagrees, he thinks I'm trying to tell him what to do with money. We have a joint bank account.

utter bollocks. If you can't point out my speech marks or where I attribute the remarks to a poster then you are lying in exactly the same way as you claim I am

scottishmummy · 11/05/2013 16:15

are you retracting your previous apology?

StealthOfficialCrispTester · 11/05/2013 16:15

But you never actually answer a direct question.

StealthOfficialCrispTester · 11/05/2013 16:16

Are you going to answer the following:

Can you at least see why the phrases I have put led me to the interpretation of "lazy" and "nagging"?
Because if not then I can't see any way I can convince you more.

The phrases were:
"wife says he cant have any of his earned money?" implies nag to me.
"you're not contributing" implies lazy to me
"faffing about on her arse at home choosing not to work and bring money in" implies lazy to me

StealthOfficialCrispTester · 11/05/2013 16:20

Thought not

scottishmummy · 11/05/2013 16:21

I am simply challenging the assumptions that everyone seems happy enough to make on this thread - that the OP is a lazy, entitled nag

except no one, absolutely no one said that.you made it up

meditrina · 11/05/2013 16:31

It's all a bit beside the point, though. OP says "SAHM at the moment" and we know from her other threads she's on Maternity Leave with a small baby.

The key point to me I that her DH seems to have spending money (OP - do you have same amount for yourself?) even when the budgeting all goes wrong and they have an end-of-month struggle. I think you should both have personal spending money. Or if the budget is tight for a few months, you both do without.

scottishmummy · 11/05/2013 16:34

not at all.point is they're skint it's difficult to manage financially
so in that case return to work early

Iggi101 · 11/05/2013 17:34

A period of maternity leave is a struggle financially for many couples. You have the choice to reduce this period and start earning money again before the end of ML; or to tighten belts further than normal during this period if you think it's important to be at home a bit longer.
Either of these options is valid, there isn't one right answer. But problems obviously arise if both partners are not committed to the same option.

LeaveTheBarSteward · 11/05/2013 17:39

Scottishmummy your posts are deliberately inflammatory and incredibly lazily written.
You seem to be arguing with stealth for the hell of it.

scottishmummy · 11/05/2013 17:44

in fairness you're not required to be Galahad and wade in
stealth, dshes it out too and I dont think she hiding behind her pomander
she may have huff as I did rightly point out she was making stuff up

LeaveTheBarSteward · 11/05/2013 17:56

I'm not required no, but I generally find your posts inflammatory and very lazily written, so just felt like saying it.

scottishmummy · 11/05/2013 18:25

well indeed one can express one opinion freely, and mn is better place for it
if that's your opinion, fine.im not going to make impassioned plea for your approval
words on a screen innit
