AIBU?

Am I being silly?

Bit panicky and on phone. I live in a caravan (static) and its a bit rainy and windy outside. I popped outside to put the lid on DS sand pit and found a 6 inch knife outside the bathroom window.

It was not there today, and there are caravans either side of us that are empty. There is also a very large dog poo but that could be anybody's dog that is on site. I've brought the knife inside, would I be over reacting if I woke DS (4) up and drove to a hotel/my dads house?
Trying to think of a innocent reason why it would be there but cant.
Bit weepy atm and feel embarrassed as I've always said how great it is here and how safe it is.

Grin so glad it's good news!

Let's face it a sod off big knife outside your caravan on a dark stormy night is the makings of a decent horror film!

I can understand how scared you felt. Last year I found a crow bar outside my garage door. I put it inside my garage and it is still there. I didn't like the thought that someone could have been intending to break in.

Thank heavens for that!

Glad your safe and it was a innocent reason.

I think if it's a kitchen knife it's probably just fallen out of somebody's baggage and not a weapon. But it sounds as though you generally feel unsafe and insecure where you live which is not a good thing. Why not look into the prospect of moving to a place where you feel safer.

Look on the bright side.... there is a huge dog able to wield a kitchen knife at any intruders! Best bodyguard I can think of Grin

You're not an idiot. Is the gentle giant friendly and approachable? Would it be worth having his and the owners' mobile numbers in case you ever feel scared again?

I am SOOOO glad there was an innocent reason, and that you have got to the bottom of it.
But still think I would have done the same, always better to be safe than sorry.
Yoni's idea is good too. Nice to know there is a big man and a dog on hand!

Try and move if you can, you are living in a caravan site with 10 empty caravans so no wonder you are feeling a bit edgy. Obviously finances permitting but I wouldnt feel safe in an under occupied caravan site with my dc.

I asked the giant for his number and today I'm moving to a busier part of the site. We can all shake hands from our windows but I know I will feel safer.
