They've going to give her make-up, completely changed her facial features and made her dress skimpier.

Here.

There's also a petition protesting it Here.

What do you guys think?

Well that was worded awfully.

'They're going to give her make up, change her facial features and make her dress skimpier.'

WidowWadman · 06/05/2013 18:22

They also made her look much older. Tosspots. Nothing to do with the movie character anymore.

saintmerryweather · 06/05/2013 18:23

Urgh she looks completely different!

Sparhawk · 06/05/2013 18:24

Exactly, I really hope they listen to people on this but I doubt it. It seems that all the strong female characters get forgotten about (Mulan and Lilo) or changed.

JumpingJackSprat · 06/05/2013 18:25

I cant see the problem. shes barely been changed at all from those pictures. Her dress cant really be described as skimpy.

Sparhawk · 06/05/2013 18:27

'Barely'? We must be looking at different pictures, it's completely different. Her dress, her facial structure and make up are all completely different. The 'sexy shoulders' is much more skimpier than the original version.

OP posts:
Sparhawk · 06/05/2013 18:30

Oh and if you look they have also changed her body shape to make her waist slimmer, shoulders and hips wider.

OP posts:
smellylittleorange · 06/05/2013 18:32

Glad you posted this seen this on the mighty girl Facebook page, bloody awful especially the appearance of a cleavage yuk yuk yuk!

Sparhawk · 06/05/2013 18:33

I agree with the one of the commenters on the article, I don't think it's about making her look older either, it's making her look sexier. It's so bloody frustrating, why on earth would they piss about with the one decent princess.

OP posts:
TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 06/05/2013 18:34

Wtaf?

saintmerryweather · 06/05/2013 18:40

Her waist is smaller giving her a more hourglass figure. but then again look what the hell theyve done to.rapunzel in that picture i didnt recognise her!

Sparhawk · 06/05/2013 18:41

I don't understand why Rapunzel doesn't have short brown hair either, that'd be a nice change too.

OP posts:
crashdoll · 06/05/2013 18:51

I read the petition and it lost me at "empowering role model". Wtf?!

Sparhawk · 06/05/2013 18:55

Why crashdoll? It made sense to me, Merida was a princess more inerested in exploring and archery then dressing in pretty dresses (she hates them in the move) and in the redesign they've changed that and turned her into just another vacuous princess in a sparkly dress.

LadyVoldemort · 06/05/2013 18:56

Yanbu

Sparhawk · 06/05/2013 18:56

should read 'more interested in exploring and archery than dressing in pretty dresses'

OP posts:
WidowWadman · 06/05/2013 19:06

I'd prefer a short-haired Rapunzel, too. She looks better that way, and isn't weighed down by the hair.

CSIJanner · 06/05/2013 19:07

New Merida?

That's. Just. Wrong Sad

YANBU

YoniRanger · 06/05/2013 19:10

I think the problem is that Merida has proved to be financially very unsuccessful.

DD has the soft doll and the baby doll and both times we went to buy them staff commented that they hadn't sold many. They were on sale really quick too.

I think there is often a lot of talk about wanting certain things from Disney but they are a business and if people don't vote with their cash then Disney have no choice but to revert to old templates.

Frankly I'm amazed she's not wearing pink!

Sparhawk · 06/05/2013 19:11

That's true Yoni.

OP posts:
loofet · 06/05/2013 19:12

Oh no Sad Merida is the only acceptable Disney princess imo and now they're making her slutty too, grr.

5318008 · 06/05/2013 19:12

YANBU

have you clocked her more dainty, delicate feet, too?

Angry
StickEmWithThePointyEnd · 06/05/2013 19:12

The eyes on the "new" Merida, eurgh! So, you can't be a princess without sexy dresses and make up - oh and all princesses are "grown up" too are they? Has anyone reminded them their target audience is about 6 years old?

squoosh · 06/05/2013 19:13

Isn't Merida meant to be 11 or 12 years old?

Sparhawk · 06/05/2013 19:16

Squoosh Yeah, which makes the new sexualized one even more WTF.
