AIBU? I've had to call Tesco mobile twice today and they ask my name and my password...I say "It's Neo Maxizoomdweebie" and they then say "Alright thank's Neo...how can I help you?"

And I'm thinking NO! Call me "Miss Mazizoomdweebie please!"

Some companies say "Ok do you mind if I call you Neo?" and I say "Yes...I do actually." and I can HEAR them go Hmm

But they then call me by my title and 2nd name. One operator today called me Neo and then reduced that to "love".!!

I AM a bit old fashioned...but come on!

YADNBU! I hate this. I also respond to 'may I call you loma' with 'no, I'd rather you called me Dr loma' (my title by the way, written perfectly clearly on all paperwork) and I can hear the snigger in the response, or they just plain ignore me.

It seem's presumtuous, rude and matey when done in the first instance and then when it's ignored or dismissed after actually saying what my preference is: well - damned annoying.

Did you get I agree with you Grin

I have more of a problem with them asking how your day is going/how are you today.....

well....I am trying to look after my daughter single handedly, work a 40 odd hour week, keep house in some form of clean tidy state, trying to pay my bills quickly and efficiently and so do not appreciate you wasting my time and money on the 0845 number you make me ring and then ask me pointless questions that you do not really wan to know the answer to!

Saying that last time I rung said company (after leaving a long feedback email) they didn't ask me anything except "how may I help you today", much much better.

Sommink I agree. n.b. you can avoid calling 0845 and 0870 numbers in most cases - see www.saynoto0870.com/search.php. It's saved me loads.

You aren't being unreasonable.

Everyone has the right to choose how they wish to be addressed. Some people like their first name, some don't. It is wrong for anyone to say that their preference is how everyone should feel and if someone doesn't, then there's something wrong with them.
