I just don't get it.

Just tell that person to their face if you appreciated what they did or were annoyed by their actions.

I find it odd to come onto a forum and write a letter to someone who in all likelihood is never going to see it.

To the woman in Lloyds bank this morning.

Pombears and frootshoots in your wnaky basket was an interesting juxtaposition of goods.

Have you never wanted to say something to someone and bottled it, or said the wrong thing? Or not wanted to say something but needed to get your feelings off your chest?

The point isn't that the other person will see it, it's to vent, or get reassurance or support from other people.

Also, some people get ideas for how to react if that kind of thing happens again

And, on a more positive note, it is nice to hear when someone has had a positive experience.

Why don't you just tell the person starting whichever thread is getting your goat instead of starting another one? Practice what you preach and that...

Oh,FGS. Sometimes, at least in the case of those threads being grateful to someone, there wasn't time to thank them. Or the person posting was too stressed or flustered to do it at that moment.

The chances of the relevant person seeing the thread are slim, I guess. But you never know and where's the harm?

I like to read those threads. It shows that, in the case of kindnesses done, not everyone takes things for granted.

It's good to get things off your chest I think! So YABU.

I just don't get why it has to be in letter form.

It's not the fact that they want to share whats happened.
