To hang out my washing wearing just bra and knickers?

That's it really.

What are your thoughts?

Mrs Hiddleston - I was houseworking after my shower, was hot, didn't want to wreck work clothes, was downstairs and in a hurry when the washing machine finished so went out with the washing as I was.

I've done it plenty of times before and so far have no reasonable reason not to carry on despite the outpouring of disgust and horror from my over-excited work colleagues.

I am not very overlooked, just the bedroom windows from the opposite houses, I walk round my house in my underwear and naked, I always try to close my blinds. I also go into my back garden to fill the dogs water bowl, I have ran out and took something off the line,in my underwear, but I wouldn't stand and put washing out, I'd wear a "beach" dress

my DP would be a bit Hmm if I did it in my bra and knickers, but wouldn't turn a hair if I wore a bikini.

I supposed its the difference between underwear and outerwear. Bikinis are outerwear.

somewhereaclockisticking · 24/04/2013 11:26

why would you want to really?

Ooopsadaisy · 24/04/2013 11:30

It's not a conscious decision, somewhereaclockisticking, I just do it.

I was running late and just did it.

If my neighbours kitchen window didn't overlook my back garden i would happily walrus about in my undies but dp would think me mad.. it annoys him i'm naked in the house all the time

Yanbu at all i'm jealous!

thermalsinapril · 24/04/2013 11:52

There's a difference between a bikini and underwear though, isn't there? One is designed to be seen outdoors, the other isn't.

Sparklingbrook · 24/04/2013 11:53

True thermal I just thought that the same amout of flesh would be on show.

bollockstoit · 24/04/2013 11:59

You have my permission to do it op. I've just been for a run too, and I can completely understand wanting to stand outside with not much on to cool down!

GrandPoohBah · 24/04/2013 11:59

I get things out of the tumbledryer in the nude. My tumbledryer is in the conservatory, and if my neighbours were in their gardens they could probably see me. It adds a frisson of excitement to getting dressed!

I would hang out clothes in my underwear. It's just bodies. My 65yo DM gardens in her bikini Grin

iclaudius · 24/04/2013 12:03

I would and do!!

WorraLiberty · 24/04/2013 12:05

What a strange subject to discuss at work.

Ooopsadaisy · 24/04/2013 12:13

WorraLiberty - perhaps a little context is required.

I arrived at work, just about on-time, for an appointment.

I said (something like) "Oh good - just made it!"

Colleague said (something like) "Have you had a busy morning?"

I said (something like) "Yeah, I went for a run, showered, started to get dressed but was really hot so did a few jobs as I was and then realised the time. When the washing machine finished I rushed out .... " etc.

She said "Do you mean you weren't actually dressed?"

And so the conversation went.

We do have some mind-bloggling conversations at times - trust me, this was nothing.

Oh yes, and having caused consternation throughout the place, my appointment cancelled so I'm back home again until later.

PS - I'm still dressed.

I wander around the garden in my pyjamas, and have been known to fetch washing in /hang it out in underwear, but then the only people likely to see me are the sheep.

scarletforya · 24/04/2013 12:25

You want people to look and you and you enjoy causing consternation in the office, which is your own business. You're not doing any harm and I guess you have to get your jollies where you can! Wink Grin

If I was fit enough to run I might prance around the garden in me scanties. But I doubt our elderly neighbours would be thrilled by my saggy hide prancing about!

SirBoobAlot · 24/04/2013 13:03

I think you're a bit nuts, but rather awesome at the same time Grin

I wish I was happy enough with my body to not care who saw me in knickers and a bra!

Just await the thread of "You'll never guess what my neighbor has been doing!" Wink

EldritchCleavage · 24/04/2013 13:05

No crotchless business

My mantra for the day.

Ooopsadaisy · 24/04/2013 13:22

I'm surprised no-one has reacted to the comments from my work colleague.

"You're asking for all sorts of unwanted attention. Who knows who could be looking. Some man could see you and attack you. You hear these stories about women being raped and they go out in short skirts ..... You haven't even got the skirt!"

Does no-one else think this is massively OTT?

OP posts:
RevoltingPeasant · 24/04/2013 13:38

Eldritch - I am now wondering if judgeypants come in a crotchless format.

Hmmmmm.

Ooopsadaisy · 24/04/2013 13:46

You'd have to be a bit careful hoiking up crotchless judgeypants.

OP posts:
mmmerangue · 24/04/2013 13:50

Well RE work colleagues comments...

women do not ask for it, no matter what they are wearing. you are entitled to wear (or not) whatever you want on your own property. If some maniac chose to break in and try to or worse still actually attack you that would be their fault, not yours. No apologies neccessary from a woman in a short skirt or from you.

OTT comment maybe but not unfounded, women do get raped and it's a common misconception that it is somehow because of what she wears and she was 'asking for it'.

EldritchCleavage · 24/04/2013 14:14

Oh, colleague's comments are mad internalised patriarchal self-blaming and misogyny not worthy of consideration.

Crotchless judgeypants, on the other hand...no, wouldn't work.

AnyFucker · 24/04/2013 14:20

Are you one of those "I'm kerrrray-zee, I am" types ?

Ooopsadaisy · 24/04/2013 14:29

No.

I'm just a normal person, in a bit of a hurry, putting out my washing, surprised at the reaction of my colleagues and just wanting some confirmation of whether this is regarded as acceptable or unacceptable behaviour.

Perhaps it is me - actually, if it is, I can live with that, but it helps to know what the reaction is so I can manage not to upset/offend.
