To hang out my washing wearing just bra and knickers?

That's it really.

What are your thoughts?

But it's my garden. No-one should be looking should they?

How does that work?

Surely you don't walk around with your eyes closed in case you happen to look at nextdoor's garden?

I couldn't care less either way but it just sounds odd to me.

Years ago I had a neighbour who always pottered around the garden in a pair of yellowing Y-fronts and it wasn't a pretty sight.

It would have taken him seconds to pop a t.shirt on.

BaronessBomburst · 24/04/2013 10:44

DM wafts around in a kaftan with nothing underneath. At least a bra and knickers would contain all wobbles.

I do the housework in my pyjamas and then get showered and dressed when I done for the day. That's why I'm often still in PJ's at lunchtime.

Tapirbackrider · 24/04/2013 10:44

You can't honestly expect people to go "Oh there's a garden fence, I musn't look beyond that, it's private property"!

If you want to hang your washing out wearing nowt but your underwear then do so. To expect other people to avert their gaze is just silly.

cantspel · 24/04/2013 10:44

If you dont mind people looking at you in your pants and then laughing down the pub about the mad woman next door then go for it. Just make sure you have no skiddy marks on the back of your pants.

AmberSocks · 24/04/2013 10:45

yanbu

i have done it starkers before,we spend quite a large amount of time naked, its natural after all.

WorraLiberty · 24/04/2013 10:46

To all those saying it's freezing...

Flobbadobs - there's a bloke in my town who sits on his doorstep the second the sun comes out. He's been doing it for years and is a lovely shade of mahogany. I wonder if its the same guy..

Op, put some clothes on. I hope you dont have teenage children, they will die of embarrassment when all their mates find out their mum wanders round in her kecks.

AmberSocks · 24/04/2013 10:47

i find it more odd that people think going in your own garden wearing underwear is odd, does it really matter?

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/04/2013 10:48

Chucks bun at Worra, it's freezing in derbyshire.

I may strip naked and take a jog round the park Grin

I also might not...

cantspel · 24/04/2013 10:51

before we moved next door used to hang his washing out in a short housecoat with nothing on under it. Every time he lifted his arms to peg something out you got a full view of his 75 year old bollocks.
He also used to sit out reading the paper in said house coat with is bollocks dangling in the breeze.

Very good reason not to have waist high fences.

Ooopsadaisy · 24/04/2013 10:52

Grin - no I haven't washed everything at once.

I don't care if people see me in my bra and knickers. All my bits are covered just as they are on holiday in a bikini.

It's quite warm where I am today and I had been out running earlier so am probably warmer than most.

Fences are about neck height.

I have no problem with people thinking I'm a bit mad. Anyone who knows me thinks that anyway - but in a good way.

Work colleagues are all judgey about this. That's why I'm asking.

ATJabberwocky · 24/04/2013 10:56

I would be a little surprised seeing my neighbour in their bra and pants, although I wouldn't go out in just a dressing gown either.

WorraLiberty · 24/04/2013 10:56

I just think it's a non issue really OP

If you don't want to pop a t.shirt on then don't

But to think people shouldn't look, is really odd.

I glance at car crashes on the motorway even though I really don't want to...it's just human nature.

Flobbadobs · 24/04/2013 10:59

Having just read cantspel's lst post I have changed my mind, just do it!
I am unreasonably jealous as it's raining and cold here today and I have had to put my big woolly jumper on.
SouthernComforts if he wears flip flops with speedos, lives near the local park and is a colour that Ronseal would be jealous of then he could be the same guy!

Flobbadobs · 24/04/2013 11:00

That should read last post..

expatinscotland · 24/04/2013 11:00

Don't expect people not to look, and hopefully it's a sight that won't turn people to stone.

HenrySugar · 24/04/2013 11:04

I used to share a flat with a French girl who used to wash all her clothes on a Sunday and walk around in her underwear all day. She was a little strange though. I tried to be friendly and did invite her to parties etc on Sundays but she always declined, saying she had nothing to wear. I offered to lend her something of mine, but she looked horrified and escaped into her room.

I think people will assume you've washed all your clothes OP.

mmmerangue · 24/04/2013 11:06

I long for a back garden of my own so I can do things like this...

not the same in a 4-in-a-block shared yard :/

If you don't care about neighbours seeing your knickers then why do you care about workmates being judgey? Just don't tell them you do it, or tell them you do it and love it and don't give a shit if they don't like it, and maybe that if they want to pop over you will get some belly dancing beads and make it worth watching.

poppymagnum · 24/04/2013 11:07

Awaits thread;

AIBU to think my neighbor could chuck on some clothes to hang out the washing?!

Ooopsadaisy · 24/04/2013 11:08

To clarify - I don't care if people look/see. I don't see what's wrong with doing it is all.

One of my work colleagues said:

"You're asking for all sorts of unwanted attention. Who knows who could be looking. Some man could see you and attack you. You hear these stories about women being raped and they go out in short skirts ..... You haven't even got the skirt!"

I laughed and they just carried on!

OP posts:
Ooopsadaisy · 24/04/2013 11:13

Perhaps I should just add that I am now dressed and not at work in just my bra and knickers.

Maybe I'll try that tomorrow ...

OP posts:
MrsHiddleston · 24/04/2013 11:15

Can you not just put a dressing gown on? I'm not sure why you'd want to go out in your garden in your underwear?
