On every thread about hen dos the vast majority of posters say how they hate 'traditiinal' hen dos. I realise mn isn't necessarily representative if el, but just wondering how so few mners can like what seems to be the norm.is anyone willing to say they enjoy avoid "l plates" hen do?

Vast amounts of stereo typing on this thread. I can imagine the outcry if the same statements were made about other groups of people, but women who like to have a good time in a way that suits them, are fair game. You'd be surprised how many highly intelligent professional women love these nights out, without the male strippers (myself included), but that's what you get for educating the working classes and removing natural selection by having free health care.

if I was ever to have another "hen night" I would simply go out for a curry with my mates. Then on for a dance and a drink for the late-night ones.

Me too AF.
And Birds, I loathe stag nights equally, with groups of drunken men staggering around.

OP, if you go by many threads on here, its difficult to find many MN'ers who like anything, family or friend, included.

I wasn't asked about the stereotypical "stag nights" on this thread, but my thoughts on those are very clear too.

TSC, read the thread, most posts have " probably the type of women..." included. Why is it so wrong to have the world populated with people who are different to you? That is the reason I like big mixed population city's.

I've been married twice. For the first 'do', a friend had spent hours sewing condom packets and L plates on to a veil. Thank fuck my appendix went bad and I had to have an op instead :)

For my second wedding I went for a curry with a (different) friend. It was lovely.

But no-one's forcing you to theme your "do", or go on one that you know you wouldn't enjoy, so I still don't get the need to throw digs at those that do enjoy various nights out. You get invited, you go or don't, but there's no need to put down the choices of others.

But if we couldn't put down the choices of others where would we be? Sad

If we didn't discuss things there'd be no Mumsnet, Birds.

Me and DH organised a meal at a Chinese restaurant that we both like, on the same night for both. It was the eve of the wedding and anyone who was around ready was invited. It was what we wanted and it was nice. But we are not really your stereotypical party people.

Curry, pub, club then home for me. That's what I did twenty years ago and it's what I'd do now.

What's the problem with people not liking willy themes hen nights? I don't like lots of things. Robbie Williams, tea, dresses with empire lines, Toby Young, wallpaper feature walls, Kate Middleton's hair, spaniels with too bulgey eyes, baked beans. I could go on and on.

It's just different tastes.

I actually have never been on a hen night with co-ordinated tops, L plates, glitter, stetsons, shrieking. Thank god.

AnyyFucker, what did you do? That sounds a lot like mine - out for a pizza with friends, older and younger female relatives, then the ones who wanted to went for a few more drinks afterwards.

I've never been to one with strippers and willies and only one with L plates and a veil but I think I would enjoy any kind of hen night/weekend as long as I was with friends. I'm not fussy.

Well I haven't. And while 99% of the time that would be my idea of hell (in fact there's far too much shrieking in general life without adding to it), there's a little part of me that wants to. Just once. Just to see what it'd be like.

I think male strippers are a bit grim tbh, I have no desire to see a man jiggling his member around on stage, it makes me cringe.

I have no objection however to going out and getting roaring drunk, doing shots and jagers, dancing til my feet hurt and wearing themed outfits, indeed they have been some of my best ever nights out Grin

I don't consider simply because of my job or education that I'm 'better' than all this stuff, or feel I have to look down on it - by all means if you don't like it, don't do it. But don't for a second think that not enjoying these sort of nights out makes you better than me or anyone else that does!

I was the last to get married in our group so after I had dressed in red, worn an awful T-Shirt, breakfast at Tiffanys theme, something beginning with B or I?, ballgown all in expensive destinations and hotels.

I hired a minibus £10 each to the nearest city, went to a cocktail bar (Mum treated us all to champagne cocktails), then went to bars and a club. minibus home, good night out and for no more money than you would usually spend.

I was worried it would be really boring but we all had an amazing night and people said how nice it was not to have buy fancy dress or stay over.

I think whatever you do it needs to be what you want as some hen do's I have been on it hasn't been the brides choice but pushy Bridesmaid or friend who has mad ideas and the Bride just goes along with it.
