to ask my neighour not to let its dog pee on my lawn?

Just that really - she lives a few doors down and walks past out house each day to walk the dog to the park. Its not on a lead - its very slow and doddery - maybe its old - but 9/10 times it stops and pees on our front lawn - there is no fence. I have 3 kids who play outside.

My first reaction is to say ' hey , can you please not let your dog piss on my grass' I don't think its nice as its my kids like to play out there - if I wanted a dog to pee on my grass then I would get a dog. I also thinks it pretty damn rude - when I take my sisters dog out (on a lead!!!!!) I dont even let it walk on others peoples grass, let alone empty its bladder on it.

But opinion seems divided - others say its only pee - you probably sit on worse at the local park, and that there is more stuff in lfe to worry about - which is true but it still pisses me off (sorry!) . I just think its rude. What do you think - should I ask her nicely tonight when they go past ?

It wouldn't bother to me tbh, but I like dogs and accept that peeing is what they like to do.

It is your property, so you are within your rights to do so, but I would advise letting it go. You never know what you are doing to tick off your neighbours!

I would probably just say nicely, 'please can you stop your dog weeing on my lawn' (smile)

It can actually burn the grass and cause brown marks, which is why I have fenced of my grass to my dogs.

If she continues smash her face in tell her you will speak to the police about trespass and the fact she walks her dog with out a lead, with is an offence.

It wouldnt bother me.. its just dog pee.. and probably mixes in with the cat pee, fox pee and all other types of animal pee that goes on lawns.. as well as bird droppings etc...

Unless your children run out immediately after the dog has had a wee, and rub their faces in it.. they really are not at any risk of anything..

LOL greenkit! - Is it really an offence to walk them without a lead - I cant believe that - people do it all the time

I think I'd probably just look at getting some kind of small fence up. It's only wee, it's not harmful. I would think it would have to be fairly concentrated to burn the grass as it doesn't usually have much ammonia in it. That said, it would probably annoy me too! Blush

Walking a dog without a lead is not in any way an offence, green.

Just ask her nicely next time you see her.

We are not allowed fences up according to the deeds or something. So I guess it is just me - Maybe i shold just let it go then - it just annoys me cos she stops and waits and watches while it does it and I think ' go and let it pee on your own bloody lawn'

I dont purposely let my dog on peoples grass but sometimes he just wanders and i cant pull him because hes really old and falls over.i dont think its that bad as long as she doesnt purposely let it.people just dont think

Leads, collars and muzzles

Under the Road Traffic Act 1988 it is a criminal offence to cause or permit a dog to be on a road, which has been designated by a local authority as a road to which the Act relates, without the dog being held on a lead.

There are exceptions for dogs proved to be kept for driving or tending sheep or cattle in the course of a trade or business and for dogs proved to have been at the material time in use under proper control for sporting purposes.

Someone threatened to kill my 14 year old soft as anything dog cos it weed on his bush.not in his garden,on the public side of such bushery.weirdo.i shouldve asked him if hed like me to clean the public pavement for him.miserable twonk

Its not just you OP, I think it quite outstandingly rude to allow your dog to wee in someone else's garden, especially if she's watching the dog doing it.
Maybe she just hasn't thought that you would be offended so possibly just saying to her might do the trick.

Dog pee 'burns' grass. I would ask her to stop or just run a small rope 'fence' along the boundary.

It would bother me - and I have a dog. I wouldn't dream of letting it pee deliberately on someone's lawn. It depends though - if it's just the occasional quick cocked leg then I can see how that might be too quick to stop. But if it's proper squatting first steamy piss of the day then that is Not On and I would def say something. She might not realise she is being watched, so just make her aware that the lawn belongs to someone.

Don'tshout. Yes, where my dog wee's, he is a boy and so he does it against the fence, there is a brown patch which is now brown because of his wee.

I don't mind so much because its only on the edge.

Which is on the highway, as she is walking her dog along the pavement. He just happens to stop on her lawn and pee.

She's being incredibly rude. You probably need to put some sort of border round your garden, though, as she may be dim enough not to understand it's private property if it merges with the path.

Your lawn will be brown and patchy.
Can't you get some repellent off amazon? I'm pretty sure you can.
Id say its very reasonable to ask her not to allow it.

I don't let my dog do this and if it did I'd expect someone to tell me to not do it again if they saw me!
