to ask if you know how to fix my cooker

its a beko electric fan oven, bought just under 3 years ago and this is the third time. the heating element has gone. going to have to get it fixed but financial situation not good at the minute so wondering if there is a way that wont cost the earth

How much are you expecting it to cost?

You could buy a Halogen oven, they are £40 on ebay and cost less to use than your oven anyway. Both my husband and brother won't eat a pizza cooked in one (base doesn't go hard enough), but apart from that, I've never had any complaints, I liked mine until I dropped the lid on the floor and broke it , I'm even planning on buying another.

You can change the element yourself. The heating element should be approx £30 to buy

If you've had three elements in three years, I'd be expecting them to replace it for free.

Everything has to be fit for purpose for a certain length of time. Three years is well within this. Contact Trading Standards for information.

I changed the heating element in our oven myself, it was really straightforward. One tip, take a photo of the old one and how it's wired up on your phone before you disconnect it. I found a you tube video of how to do it.

You are covered for 5 years under sale of goods act 1979, contact shop you bought it from.

found one on amazon about 13 pound, element man 20. worried about cost of someone fitting more than actual element. its the d533 model

google how to change the element, you will find sites and videos to show you how, it's pretty straightforward, so fitting it would not cost you anything then.

have got in touch with beko and argos but dont hold out much hope they left me a fortnight without it when it was under warranty. wish we hadnt bought it its been pants. dp is saying we can do it ourselves im dubious though as he has a tendancy not to admit when he doesnt know what hes doing

i am not totally useless and would follow youtube vids just worry about safety. what the feck can i do for tea tomoro first world problem sure ill think of a hob only meal

Found an online video to change mine. Took half an hour max. Had to do it twice before I worked out that I'd been the one knackering up the element by accidentally getting oven cleaner on it.

so far looks like ill be getting one from amazon and trying to do it ourselves. always at the worst possible time!

I bought a new element on eBay for less than a tenner and changed it myself following a video I found online, it was pretty straightforward, just a bit tricky fitting myself into the confined space of the oven

I got a 3 year old cooker replaced by Argos, that was a Beko too
They were very good about it actually, I did have to get a quote though from an electrician just saying what was wrong/had gone wrong previously.

I fixed our element before we got our vair nice new range cooker it's dead easy. Top tip, use clothes pegs to stop the wires dropping behind the back wall.
