To think 'place marking' is pretty vulgar

Why do people think it is acceptable to shamelessly post on a thread to say nothing more than they are marking their place?

If they are that interested in the topic, surely they can make a comment that is relevant and still marks their place.

I've just worked out how to do bookmarks from my phone, and it wasn't actually that hard after all Blush

Stand by what I said though, place marking does have its, er, place.

sweetiepie1979 · 17/04/2013 21:59

You know I've always wondered what it means? Can someone tell me what it means and why people do it?

IAmJacksRagingBileDuct · 17/04/2013 23:43

Its so people know and can find where they've read up to on the thread sweetiepie. If its a long or quick moving one especially, most people have their own posts highlighted so a quick scroll means you can resume reading where you left it without having to trawl through loads of posts first.

Any post could be a place mark. I prefer the honesty when it's stated as such, as long as it's on a suitably lighthearted thread.
