AIBU?

To not like alcohol.

I don't like the taste of any alcohol, therefore I don't drink any. It's not for religious or health reasons I just dislike it all. I would rather have a Brew. My family always despaired of me! They all like a big glass of Wine. I always remember my Grandpa trying to get me to drink his beer, and not liking it at all.

YANBU at all
You're better off without it. Personally, I'm quite a big fan of alcohol but I go through periods where I don't drink any for a few weeks and my head and skin are so much clearer. And my wallet is fatter!

We do have a bit of an unhealthy obsession with alcohol in this country. Lots of people think you can't possibly be having a good time if you're not necking loads of booze. Ignore them Smile

Your choice of course, but I think its a bit of a generalisation to say you dont like any alcohol. Wine tastes nothing like beer, which tastes nothing like cider, which tastes nothing like baileys etc..

I dont like wine, and I cant stand the taste of certain spirits, but I do like the taste of some alcoholic drinks..

I would find it frustrating to hear someone say they dont like "any" alcohol.

I don't like it either. I am an obsessive tea-drinker - that and sparkly water that I clink in an ice-filled glass so people think it's gin! Grin

Have just come back from France and literally had to dodge open bottles of vinegar wine flowing in all directions.

Lucky you! Think of all those health benefits, no puffy face, no bloodshot eyes, no hangovers, no dodgy liver, no dodgy kidneys. Not to mention the huge saving of ££££'s

I have tried lots of different alcohol over the years squeakytoy and haven't found any I like.

Why is it frustrating to say that people don't like the taste of any alcohol,Squeaky? I really don't like any of it,though will occasionally put a small amount of wine in a stew or casserole.
No matter what it's paired with,or if it's in the form of beer, wine or spirits I can still taste the ethanol in it,and that's what I hate.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with liking alcohol at all, I sometimes wish I did like some. I'm not trying to be virtuous I make up for not drinking by eating chocolate Grin

See I like some alcohol, but I don't like being drunk, or even tipsy, so I tend not to drink it. A cool glass of coke is much nicer IMO.
it does take alot of drinking to find one that you do like

the taste, is secondary.

Not sure what the point of the thread is

I don't like cheese but I can't think why I would start a thread stating it Grin

Report

JamEyelid · 12/04/2013 16:48

The only alcohol I drink is vodka and lots of orange so you can't really taste it.

Bollocks, I have tasted many different alcoholic drinks over the years and I have yet to find one I don't like!

Op each to their own. Why should you drink if you don't want to and not being rude who would actually care?

Of course you're not being unreasonable to not like it. Different people like different things.

Some people don't like fish, or olives, or chocolate, or cheese.

As bizarre as it may seem to me that someone might not like cheese, some people don't. There's no question of reasonableness.

Boredom. I know everyone doesn't like something but I thought most people like alcohol.

squeaky to me, everything tastes the same ... Wine, beer, spirits. It all tastes bitter and nasty. I do drink occassionally but only white wine + lemonade, Archers + lots of lemonade or Rekorderlig summer fruits cider. Basically super sweet stuff.

wheredidiputit · 12/04/2013 17:46

I agree Kasterborous.

I have tried loads of different to me it all tastes harsh for want of a better word.

I happy to be the driver. But I hate when people I'm with seem to think it wrong that I don't want to drink. I also don't like to drink that much of an evening so I may only have one drink, two at the most.

I don't either, have tried to enjoy a glass of wine but really don't like the taste.
Im so unused to alcohol now if I drink a toast at a celebration I immediately feel the effect of it.
It is a plus when trying to loose weight.
