Should I buy DS12s best friend another small birthday present?

My sons best friend had a joint birthday party with his younger brothers at his house 3 weeks ago. As it was snowing lightly it got cancelled at the last minute (the day before). The mum organised for a bouncy slide in the garden with candy floss machine and chocolate fountain machine. The younger brothers still had their party at the house but they ordered them a play bus at the last minute. When my son went he took him a present (£10 in a card). About 3 others of his friends from school went as well. His best friend is having a proper party on Saturday but as it is his best friend should I get him to take another smallish present. My husband thinks no as he already got £10 in a card from us and my son isn't too sure what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We were not told that the party for his best friend got cancelled until I dropped him off there. The mum only told 4 of his friends.

Since he has already had a card and present (money), I see no need for you to get him another present.

I don't think there is any need to buy an extra present and I am sure that the boys parents would not expect it. My daughters party was postponed because of the snow. Some children gave her a present around the time of the original party and some gave her a present when she finally had her party. No-one bought her two presents.

Thanks so much to everyone who replied. Just was in 2 minds as he is my sons best friend and also because we know the parents well and we sometimes get together.

Unless you get a small box of chocs for the mum who's had to organise an extra party.

I'm presuming here that you didn't take any presents for the younger siblings at their party (cos u didn't know the older one's was cancelled)
