In shock, just come home from a soft play place, went with some other mums that I have just started getting to know. DD (4 years old) being unruly - we are going through a phase at the moment, one of the other mums just picked her up and smacked her on her bottom. I was completely stunned - I would never hit a child my own or someone elses... DD in tears i just gathered up DS's stuff took DD and left.

I want to pick her up on it, or call the police or something..... sorry dont have anyone in RL i cant speak to right now so sorry for ranty message im just still stunned!

WWYD?????

So did she pick her up and hit her or did she have hold of her and tell her off through gritted teeth. Or both?

CajaDeLaMemoria · 09/04/2013 10:54

Smack marks are very, very distinct. When you do a child protection course, you are taught to identify them, and it's bizarre and unnerving how distinct they are.

MandragoraWurzelstock · 09/04/2013 10:56

Could the people who are having a scrap on this thread maybe take it elsewhere or just ignore each other? It's a bit hijackish iyswim

defineme · 09/04/2013 10:57

Thanks for updating op.I'm glad the police were sensitive and I hope the women in question is given a warning.

My dm bruises like you wouldn't believe-straight away and then they go green very quickly. On the other hand I get bruises and have no idea where or when I got them. Don't worry about the bruise. The fact is your child was struck in a room full of witnesses and you have done the right thing.
Fwiw I don't think you're a drama queen and in similarish circumstances I have done the same (non dramatic) thing of not saying anything and leaving-mainly because I can't think what to say when I'm shocked and because I think I'll cry if I do say anything.
Hope you have a better day today.

Some posters do seem to have eventful lives, don't they?

squeakytoy · 09/04/2013 11:05

"My dm bruises like you wouldn't believe-straight away and then they go green very quickly"

from a slap?

I bruise easily if I knock myself on the edge of a table, or bump myself on something. It would have to have been a hell of a slap to produce a hand print that then developed into green bruise within hours.

Yes Caja I am new but not to a forum community. Time and time again I see regulars jump on other people, rightly or wrongly for various reasons. I'd be a but miffed if something I helped someone with turned out not to be true but I wouldn't use it as a platform to mock another person, follow them around the forum, and bring up their past post history. Some should get a grip and move on.

There's no need for it. I've been reading this from the very beginning and its only just started turning this way because some people decided to jump in claiming 'drama queen'. All the things the OP is being pulled up on are easily explained through previous posts. It's just getting pathetic now and people are looking desperate. For those sick of the arguing. Look the way of those who hijacked the thread, I'm only trying to explain their 'concerns' to help get it back on track.

Sugarice · 09/04/2013 11:08

OP, have you spoken to your DH, what does he say about this.

Did you speak to him before contacting the police?

LovePickles · 09/04/2013 11:10

I have an eventful life, I just don't post about it. This past month no one would believe. It happens, doesn't make that person a subject for mockery.

WorraLiberty · 09/04/2013 11:15

This thread is almost as fantastic as the bouncy castle thread.

That one had the last drops milked out of it too.

MammaTJ · 09/04/2013 11:15

My mum got called in to school once to justify some finger marks on my arms. I had actually done them myself by wrappign my arms around the ropes of a swing and holding my own arms firmly, as proven when they compared my hands to the marks.

Clumsyoaf · 09/04/2013 11:18

No Sugarice I havent spoken to DH.

I think people should understand that sometimes some people have no one to turn to for advice in rl and its not as easy as just picking up a phone. Im the kind of person who will overthink things and really need a sounding board to try and get an objective view.

For anyone who is interested I called the softplay and the manager had already spoken to the police just before 11. They are obviously looking into it.

I would have expected a PCSO to be cautious about giving an opinion on the source of the mark. I would also expect her to be uber cautious about questioning a young child ad hoc like that.

Her response to the report sounds a bit casual to be honest.

BabylonReturns · 09/04/2013 11:22

So is op not confirming she was the op of the party too?

MammaTJ · 09/04/2013 11:22

Glad they are taking it seriously.

LadyBeagleEyes · 09/04/2013 11:25

Yes Op, how are things with you and coffeedog these days?

pickles I agree.

Also I find it really weird that people get so het up and annoyed or invest so much emotional support engaging for hours or digging in past posts being detectives. Torches get lit, gangs join forces... Intelligent woman at their best Confused

CajaDeLaMemoria · 09/04/2013 11:31

It's probably a good idea to move on now, with the benefit of doubt...

OP, did your daughter see a medical professional after the incident? A doctor or anyone medically trained who saw it immediately?

How is the mark now?

LtEveDallas · 09/04/2013 11:32

So is op not confirming she was the op of the party too?

She wasn't.

OP of the party thread was CoffeeDog.

Your Miss Marple skills are not quite the ticket.

Mumof3men · 09/04/2013 11:34

if the police have told you not to discuss this should you not ask for the thread to be removed??

MammaTJ · 09/04/2013 11:34

OP of the party thread was indeed CoffeeDog, the OP of this thread arrived on that one to say she was the other mother.

KurriKurri · 09/04/2013 11:35

If OP is genuine (and I have no reason to believe she isn't) then all this witch hunting looks like spiteful madness.

If she is not, then it is irrelevant - report the post, let HQ deal with it and move on.

BabylonReturns · 09/04/2013 11:35

Sorry, I meant the other party host, not the op. my mistake, but you're totally right, I'm no miss marble!!
