To give my son two birthdays?

My son was born on Christmas Day :) was lovely and special for us and our families, but I do feel sorry for the little bugger as he won't ever have a party on his actual birthday with school friends when he's older. Plus he will probably only get one present a year from people.

Me and dh were discussing giving him another birthday in June so he can have a party and presents etc but we would still do something as a family for him on Christmas Day. Would this be doable?

I suppose so. Mine would look at me as if I'd grown a second head if I suggested postponing their birthday party for 6 months so they could experience the delights of a birthday picnic.

They get all the theme park visits they need in the summer, they just don't call it a birthday outing when it's not actually their birthday

I've always said I'd do this if I had a DC with a Christmas Day birthday - great arrangement.

I don't think there's a need to agonise too much over the birthday.
MANY children have awkward birthdays IYSWIM.
My DD has a mid August birthday which is a nightmare for parties as everyone is on holiday. My DS has a March birthday, and ends up being in school for it!

The reality is most DCs don't have their parties on their actual birthdays, due to school, parents working etc etc. And many DCs don't have extended family visiting on their actual birthday either, for the same reasons. A Saturday party is fine, as near as possible to the actual birthday, with more low key close family activities on the actual day.

And as for the picnic, camping parties business!!!! Your birthday is when your birthday is. Worrying about whether a December born gets a picnic party, is like my worrying that my DD doesn't get to have snow on her birthday!
