To think that Easter seems to be far more stressful than Christmas for MNetters?

I can't believe the amount of threads that have been started today about a day full of chocolate Shock. The angst! The chocolate rage! The stressing about too much, too little, who is the most frugal, children being sent to bed sobbing because they've dived head first into the Easter eggs. Honestly I don't remember it being like this any other year.

It's chocolate FFS!

YANBU at all.

I'm just glad to have been a child of the 70's, where my Mum didn't work herself up into a frothing state over what amounts to a couple of chocolate bars when all said and done.

It wouldn't be so bad if ( going by MN ) so many parents weren't treating themselves to the chocolate meant for their children.

So what if 5 or 10 people were thoughtful enough to buy your child an egg. Keep them and ration them...it's chocolate - not fresh meat and won't go off.

Or melt them down and make a cake but please stop justifying yourself in taking your children's treats and eating them yourself.

If you want chocolate then buy your own. Your child has no say in you taking it away from them and scoffing it yourself...and nor does the person who took the time, money and thought to buy it for your kids.

yes very odd isn't it! It's a bit of a non-event in our house, ds quietly eats his Easter eggs on Good Friday and I scoff the bits he can't finish. The major thing for me is the long weekend and bank holidays- off work- yippee!

I couldn't give a shit about easter tbh, its just a sunday with more choccy than usual.

I DIDN'T EVEN BUY MY KIDS AN EASTER EGG!! I know, I am a terrible person Hmm I gave them egg cups with their names on
They had 2 normal eggs each, a small plant pot with things like milkybar cows and kinder eggs from MIL and a large mint choc aero bar from my dad (who also refuses to buy rip off eggs - half of that will probably end up in krispy cakes even though they were given free reign on the lot today.

My dc have eaten a ton of it today. It's ONE day. They rarely have sweets or puddings the rest of the year. I remember as a kid chowing down on easter eggs for breakfast and it was BRILLIANT! One of my best childhood memories. My dc did it today too. Good! Makes me Grin.

I am actually Shock at the sheer number of angst filled threads about it.

Worra you have made me feel horribly guilty for eating one of the flakes out of the flake egg so I have returned the second one to the fridge Blush.

both my kids have offered me something out of their eggs.. OH accepted a mars bar from dd and I had a caramel mini egg from ds. Don't need to help ourselves, we have them trained mwahahaha

Have the bloody flake and if you feel guilty buy her chocolate another day - which you probably will do anyway..

I bought her a cuddly toy guinea pig yesterday, just because her face lit up when she saw it. I deserve the flake! It's only two inches long anyway Wink

I saw some amazing ones in Asda lahlee. Huge and all posh in cellophane. I just looked at them like Sad and then walked off, didn't occur to me to buy one myself, why not?!!! I will certainly be buying one next year.

I am not even a lone parent and I bought myself a bar of posh choc (I love DH but after 11 years I have learnt not to expect him to actually buy me an egg)

I let my kids have what they liked of their Easter eggs and tbh, they'd eat the middles and we'd very often be left with the shells.

I'm also a child of the 70s and would scoff all 3/4 of my Easter eggs by lunchtime. Grin

YANBU its just chocolate, its one day of the year, let them stuff there faces full of chocolate (even my stingy mum let me) i even made myself sick once, didnt make that mistake again!

On Friday I gave my DC each a jar of sweets (like in their Christmas Eve Hamper) DS especially isn't a chocolate fan and prefers jelly or chewy sweets.

Both know to keep Mother sweet to feed me chocolate - so I don't have to steal theirs [bugrin] - so no guilt (on my part) and they both feel good for doing Good Deeds (as well as living to tell the tale ) Wink

Malchi I bought my DD a Guinea-Pig to sew kit for Easter. So far, I think the ears are in but that's because I sewed them.
I can see my guinea-pig ( DD guinea is too chunky) WEARING the blessed thing like that scene in "Silence of the Lambs"

Malchi - great thread and what a relief after all the awful complaining about horrible grandparents giving their grandchildren easter eggs, and 4 year olds eating too many easter eggs. It's once a year, don't get so stressed about something that should be fun for everyone.

Your not wrong there's a lot if Easter rage going on.

I must confess to eating DS eggs last year, it would have taken the poor soul 15 years to eat them on his own he was only one. My family knew about it though. I won't nick them this year!

Most of the stuff that people go round tearing their hair out about just doesn't matter and they'd have a much happier life if they could only see that. I don't think people get stressed because of easter. Any more than I think they get stressed because of christmas.

Or because they're going on holiday. Or because they're moving house...

I think that there are people who wind themselves up about stuff and people who don't. If an event was in itself stressful, then everyone would experience stress in relation to it.

I'd like to see everyone laid back and shrugging off the small stuff. They'd just be so much happier.
