To think that children dont by cars

So why on earth do car manufacturers exclusively heavily feature children in their adverts?

I am a grown up. If I want to buy a car I will choose it not my DCs.

It's to show that the car is suitable for a family.

Parents buy cars.
Parents have children.

Voila!

The thing is that they dont feature children. They dont say 'look, your kids and all their clobber will fit in this car'. No, they say 'look kids, isnt this a really great car!'

Why? I bought a car recently, I didnt take my DCs with me and they are old enough to have an opinion (if I was going to pay attention to it!)

I keep buying cars quite forgetting that I have children so they are possibly aimed at people like me.
