I was telling my 10 year old yesterday about a bird that was using the water that had collected in the bottom of the little trampoline we have in the garden. I wasn't sure what type of bird it was so asked him. I said it was black and white and bigger than a pigeon and did he know what it was.

His reply 'Was it a penguin'.

I know it's been cold but honestly!

He's only getting the education you are providing for him. Look in the mirror.

this is lighthearted, by the way

cocolepew · 23/03/2013 17:20

BrianButterfield · 23/03/2013 17:33

I wonder what education kids area getting and I'm one of the people providing it! I spent a whole term studying King Henry V (the play) with a class and at the end of the term one of them asked "you know in the book when it says 'king', is that the King Henry that it says on the cover?". No, Shakespeare named the play after someone who isn't in it! To be fair, the rest of the class were Hmm

I bloody love penguins I would have wanted it to be a penguin Grin

fuzzpig · 23/03/2013 17:45

Is a magpie bigger than a normal pigeon? (We only have woodpigeons round here ) :o

fuzzpig · 23/03/2013 17:46

My dad used to call me penguin when I was little (I still sign cards/emails to him with it actually)

He called me penguin because...

...I like fish, but I can't fly.

:)

mrsjay · 23/03/2013 17:51

I think so we are a very lower middle class area we have ordinary pigeons and wood pigeons Grin magpies are way bigger than both I think

awwwfuzz that is lovely Smile

Tee2072 · 23/03/2013 17:54

I am not only expecting penguins, I am expecting polar bears. Any second now.

Iwishitwouldgetwarmer · 23/03/2013 21:51

BrianButterfield - You sometimes wonder how much they take in. My youngest was learning about the Romans last year. Not sure he totally understood when the Romans were around but he asked me what it was like for me in roman times.

I know I'm getting on a bit but even I wasn't around at the same time as the romans!

Maybe I've just got odd kids! Smile, or look more haggard than I thought.
