I have crazy hair...I love it (obviously) but get quite a lot of dirty looks and nasty comments.

Today a lady came up to me in town and said I'd "brightened up her day", which totally brightened up mine! So nice to have a nice comment Grin

Also made the 4 hours I spent braiding and installing last night worth it.

Oooo, I love it. It really suits you.

ScarletLady02 · 23/03/2013 08:11

TastesLikePanda - do you find different colour garner different responses? I get far more nice comments when it's pink or blonde with coloured bits. The blue is rather more unusual. I got a lot more shit when I lived in London which I found odd...you'd think it would be more accepting (I guess areas like Camden etc would have been).

If I'm out clubbing and wearing my full "cyber" gear I do get loads of compliments which is nice. Plus I've had lots of tourists take pictures when I was in Central London - I don't mind if they ask first, but they don't always!

you and your hair are beautiful

have a great night out

NotYouNaanBread · 23/03/2013 08:21

Can't see on my iPhone, but I used to have fake dreads too - I made them myself with the packets of nylon hair from African hairdresser supply shops (or ordered wackier colours online).

Back comb a double length section of fake hair, twist, blast slowly along the length with hair dryer & hey presto! Completely natural looking. I always scattered a few brown though it to make it look more real (if waist length lavender dreads could ever be real?!?!).

I miss cool hair. :/

TastesLikePanda · 23/03/2013 08:24

I always had lots of compliments when it was pink and purple (sometimes at the same time!) but at the moment its green on top and red underneath and its been really popular with people! Its really bright though and I think people may be responding to the cheerfulness of it. I have had more compliments from 'older' people this time... When its purpkes, I tended to get attention from younger girls. Ooh that sounded a bit creepy, I mean like late teens / early twenties.

I always get fascinated stares from little children though, followed by the loudest 'whisper' MUMMY LOOK AT THAT LADYS HAIR!

ScarletLady02 · 23/03/2013 08:29

Ooh kids love it don't they? A little girl yesterday was fiercely whispering "Mummy mummy....PEOPLE don't have blue hair do they Mummy? She must be a magic lady!" Grin

NaanBread - I've made synth dreads before but wool is MUCH easier. My last two sets were synth though. I had more blue and then blonde/pink/black before that. I get bored really easily Blush

I might do a hair history on my profile....it may take a while!

Those that are mean are jealous, they're pissed that they feel they have to conform to so called normal hair and haven't got the guts or imagination to dress that way.

TastesLikePanda · 23/03/2013 08:32

at 'magic lady!'

SamuelWestsMistress · 23/03/2013 08:34

That is cool hair!

ArtemisKelda · 23/03/2013 08:39

Scarlet your hair is fantastic, I just wish I had the bottle to do something like that! You're extremely pretty too. Envy

I'd love to know how you make them, a tutorial link would be great Smile

500internalerror · 23/03/2013 08:45

I'm so frustrated - I want to see, but I can't view your profile by phone either Confused

OneHundredSecondsofSolitude · 23/03/2013 08:46

So if the dread bits are wool what is your actual ral hair like. Is it very short or is it all woven into the felty bits?

Skullnbones · 23/03/2013 08:51

Fecken awesome hair

Nagoo · 23/03/2013 08:52

Oooh pretty :)

I have gone mumsy and boring, I miss my bright hair. Maybe one day soon :)

thezebrawearspurple · 23/03/2013 08:54

I think your hair is lovely, obviously very well taken care of and I bet it suits your personality. Very striking and interesting.

As for obnoxious idiots who have nothing better to do with their life than criticise and abuse you for your hair (Shock), it's ridiculous that these pathetic people think you care for their opinion. What bores, it's a complement to be recognised as nothing like them, they're just too stupid to realise itGrin

Wookiee101 · 23/03/2013 09:03

Your hair looks amazing! As a matter of interest, which colour did you use for the front - the sort of blue/green? I really would love to have hair that colour, like this

BertieBotts · 23/03/2013 09:06

It looks amazing - and you are beautiful. I tried to dye my hair blue last year but it didn't take at all.

CryptoFascist · 23/03/2013 09:10

Love it *swoons Grin I adore the colours!

impecuniousmarmoset · 23/03/2013 09:12

That's beautiful. Don't usually much like dreads but it looks gorgeous. Stunning colours too.

ScarletLady02 · 23/03/2013 09:14

Wookiee101 - The dye is Directions Atlantic Blue on bleached hair (it's the colour on all my hair). It's fresh, I bleached and dyed it the day before I put the dreads in. It's a great colour.

OneHundredSecondsOfSolitude - my hair is about as long as the longest dreads at the front. It's actually longer than a lot of the dreads but the braiding technique I use (blanket stitch) shortens the length of you hair by a lot making that possible. My hair is pretty knackered from bleaching so it looks better with dreads in Grin

BertieBotts - what dye did you use? Did you bleach first? Blue really needs a bleached base or it doesn't take well and looks murky.

I'll link a hair community I use for those interested. LOADS of tutes, galleries and hair related chat. I learnt everything I know from this site.

I'm still rather Blush at all these compliments, thanks lovelies!

OHforDUCKScake - I have suspicions who you are after something you posted a few weeks ago. Do I have you on FB?

MurderOfGoths · 23/03/2013 10:59

Links to tutorials would be excellent, I love my synth dreads, but they are a bit knackered nowadays and not fixing well.

ScarletLady02 · 23/03/2013 12:38

MurderOfGoths - see my previous post, the forum I linked to is packed with info and tutes Smile
