To be really annoyed at people who wear too much perfume or aftershave

We went to the O2 on Saturday night. It was a brilliant concert. But was ruined for me by the guy who sat two up along from me.
He had so much aftershave in that within minutes my nose blocked and my eyes started to stream.
They concert was sold out so no chance if moving and as it was a multi act concert was from 5-11
I had to keep going out to breathe properly and used my inhaler a lot.

Why do people have to bath in the stuff. It was terrible.

Three years ago I was blue lighted into hospital with swine flu and pneumonia. The porter who took me into the hospital was as bad. He got into the lift and I couldn't breath I had to ask the nurse to get him out.

Do people really have to wear so much?

Yanbu. I am allergic to a lot of perfumes and wear only plain deodorant , but even if I wasn't, I hate having someone's choice of smell shoved in my face. It's as bad as people playing tinny music on their phones in public places IMO

You're right.

I wear one spray on my body and one spray on my hair. I don't really want it to scream "I'M HERE!" when I walk into a room. I prefer the idea that someone will catch a subtle waft of fragrance when I walk past them.

Which I think is far more alluring.

YANBU, it can be really tough if you're allergic to some of the components. I think people get used to the amount of perfume they wear, so they top it up and don't smell it as strongly themselves. Someone once told me if you wear perfume a lot, you need to ask a mate every few months if you've started to wander around in a miasma of the stuff, because you might not have noticed it yourself.

I think it's antisocial to wear it in a crowded place like that anyway.

Btw, my otherwise lovely mate wears so much (often Poison) that it's not so much folk's thing of it screaming 'I'M HERE" when she walks in ... she can leave a room and half an hours later it's still screaming 'I WAS HERE'.

Not pleasant.

It's not just perfume.

I think any smell can become over-powering when there's too much of it.

I do agree with you though.
