The Internet predates the World Wide Web by about 25 yrs, NeoMax.

And a lot of folk give Al Gore credit for opening it up to commercial users which is what really made the WWW take off in popular usage. Else it might just have continued as a Boffin's paradise.

I don't want to diss TBL etc., just the phrasing was like giving Queen Elizabeth II credit for making the Monarchy an important part of the UK constitution.
