AIBU to think that the friend that made me sick should bring me soup?

My friend was ill last weekend and the start of the week, she still had a cough but said she felt fine and came around on Thursday night for a glass of Wine and a chat.

I felt naff last night, overly tired, weak and a little shaky, so I had an early night. This morning I woke up feeling like death. I have a terrible headache, I'm coughing and I feel really feeble and ill.

My friend is coming round later to borrow some films. I asked her if she could stop at the shop and get me some soup and some lucazade as she infected me with her illness. She said no because she would have to go out of her way to go to the shop and its raining (there isn't a shop between our houses but there is one just down the road.

AIBU to think she owes me soup for making me sick?

(This is intended to be lighthearted by the way, I know that she didn't mean to make me sick)

How very dare she!
She should be cooking up chicken soup from scratch right now!
Oh and cake. Grin

Dawndonna · 16/03/2013 16:05

Yep, but if she can't be arsed to go out of her way, point out that your kitchen is dry, then she can make homemade soup! Grin

Hope you feel better soon, OP.

I know it's a lighthearted thread, but it seems a bit mean to say no when she's coming to yours to get a loan of something (ie you're doing something for her) and the shops close by! Make her cook the soup from scratch! Wink

putting the who gave who the illness out of the equation, she isnt a friend.

any friend would go out of their way to help another and bring them things.

ZacharyQuack · 16/03/2013 21:39

Did you take her soup when she was sick?

MrsRajeshKoothrappali · 16/03/2013 21:42

She's not a friend.

A friend would grab some bits from the shop for you regardless of whether or not they infected you.

Hmm

She can get her filmsdelivered from Amazon. Even less out of her way.

Wink

If she had asked I would have brought her soup.
Instead I picked up her kids and took them to school and collected them Monday-Thursday last week (school is only 10 minutes from my house but her house is 15 minutes in the other direction so I went well out of my way for her.

A real friend would ask if there's anything you need and arrive with basic supplies.

The cheek of her, especially after you helped out so much!

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 17/03/2013 08:47

I don't think she is being a very good friend at all, tbh.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 17/03/2013 08:48

Regardless of who made who sick (which sounds petty tbh) a friend should help out if you're ill.

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 17/03/2013 08:51

Oh wow i hope shes joking and gets the soup

INeedThatForkOff · 17/03/2013 08:51

Wow! Tell her not to bother calling then as you'll be sleeping it off instead.

WeAreEternal · 17/03/2013 08:56

The thread was meant to be light hearted ATruth

She didn't come to collect the films last night, I told her I was going to bed as I felt so unwell, she wants to come today sometime instead.

She isn't a bad friend, she is just quite lazy, if there was a shop on the way I think she would bring me soup, but not when it means going out of her way.

I'm going to do an online shop today and order lots of yummy soups. :)

I think she's being pretty mean given that you did so many school runs for her. Has she acknowledged that at all ?

ZZZenAgain · 17/03/2013 09:07

She should bring you very good soup.

PipkinsPal · 17/03/2013 09:08

This reminds me of Sheldon Cooper in Big Bang Theory!

LibertineLover · 17/03/2013 09:09

I want soup now :)

raisah · 17/03/2013 09:16

HamAlive · 17/03/2013 09:25
