Its so sad, your last moments should be as (important ?) As your first.

Either its a VERY effective advert, or the pregnancy hormones are rearing their head.

Well done Marie Curie.

It is a heartwrenching advert, I nursed my Dad through his last weeks and it brought it all back.

riskit4abiskit · 15/03/2013 20:56

Sorry to hear that it brought it all back for you, I thought it was so sad and i have been lucky enough to have never lost a close relative to cancer.

Same here riskit. I find it very hard to watch.

There are probably very few families in the land who haven't be touched by cancer and as you say it's very effective, but perhaps a little cynical, in that it's been made by advertising folk who know how to hit us hard in order to get us to put our hands in our pockets. I know that's the idea, but think it could be done in a 'kinder' way.

SashaSashays · 15/03/2013 21:08

I actually complained about this advert. I think it exploits people's suffering to extort money from them.

I get its for charity and cancer care but having dealt with that a few times it really fucked me off. It's not like choosing to watch an emotional film or programme. I don't like being emotionally assaulted in my own house when not expecting it.

riskit4abiskit · 15/03/2013 21:24

I see that argument and agree, but also think that if it shocks people into donating then maybe it is a Good Thing?

It also makes unpregnant ladies cry......

Footface · 15/03/2013 21:29

It's so true though, I think that's why it hits home. Everybody should be treated with respect in their last moments but unfortunately it's not always like that

I think that the ad is amazing, it is made by the partner of a friend of mine. I know from her the inordinate amount of time he takes to get to know the people that he works with...his piece about the Paralympians was amazing.

Yes, it can be an uncomfortable watch but it is serving its purpose, it is making you think and talk about it...
