... not just flung into one of those cardboard gift bags so that this recipient has to pick things out like a shopper at a jumble sale?

Most gifts I received in the US, where wrapped that way. :)

Whitewineformeplease · 15/03/2013 10:44

The thing I can't stand though, is when people give you a present in a gift bag, but write on the little gift tag thingy attached to the handles! Angry

notso · 15/03/2013 10:50

I know Whitewine have hastily ripped off the gift tag on many regifted giftbags!

I love gift bags always reuse them, I often regift the contents of them too. Quite honestly I could get away with not opening the presents I get from BIL and wife it's always a Bayliss and Harding gift set or a chocolate fondue!

notso · 15/03/2013 10:51

I don't like having an obviously reused giftbag though, had one from PIL, it was crumpled and had a pube in it Hmm

bedmonster · 15/03/2013 10:53

Well I think they should, so I always do, but i'm not bothered by receiving things shoved in a bag! The present is the actual gift, not the packaging!

Having said that, I love wrapping stuff really nicely and have a big box of all kinds of special paper, tissue paper, ribbons, celophane, the works! I even wrap all my ebay parcels with the same love! Christmas is my idea of heaven with all that wrapping (but i'm not a mentalist who has a 'theme') Grin

Tin foil with a ribbon, no Sellotape, can easily be recycled and very easy to do.

Still18atheart · 15/03/2013 10:59

YABU

I like gift bags, and I always use them especially if the shape of the present awkward and will be hard to wrap. Or if I'm giving them more than one thing.

ibizagirl · 15/03/2013 12:51

Dd had a birthday party and one of her presents was wrapped in newspaper. I thought yuk and dd thought it was good!! Lovely inky fingers.

thiswaytothebeach · 15/03/2013 12:53

get over your self

YellowStickers · 15/03/2013 13:52

You should be grateful you're even getting a present.

Iaintdunnuffink · 15/03/2013 13:55

Yabu, nothing wrong with a gift bag.

If we visit my parents at Christmas they give presents in old newspaper because their rubbish collection is so strict. They won't accept wrapping paper in the recycling bin and the general waste collection doesn't allow for huge amounts.

NoTeaForMe · 15/03/2013 14:11

YANBU. Presents should be wrapped, especially for children. It hardly takes long does it.

LilQueenie · 16/03/2013 00:48

I like gift bags and you can put tissue paper in too. However I was not amused when mil handed me (in february) a used kids pendant wrapping in toilet roll!!! [Hmm] Batty.

scottishmummy · 16/03/2013 00:58

You're an ungrateful pwincess.grow up

Einsty · 16/03/2013 01:01

That is it. MN has finally drained me of any remaining joy in gift giving or party hosting... I used to assume that people would take things in the spirit intended. I now know I have been irritating the hell out of people in 1,000 small ways. I resign.

LilQueenie · 16/03/2013 01:07

btw it was supposed to be a christmas gift!

KatieScarlett2833 · 16/03/2013 04:27

I have a gift bag cupboard, all recycled. Every single member of my family does the same. Oh and those stupid stars boil my piss. I loathe getting cards with those in, what is the point except to make a mess I then have to clear up. You don't keep the stars, they go in the bin, what a waste of time,
Now, greetings cards.......... Confused
