To roll my eyes everytime a parent sends a Pope well wishing message

and lol a bit everytime I get one.

We are in a Catholic state school, and as you all know that you are meant to attend church and be all religious just to get into the school.

A few of the parents are sending messages about the new Pope, do they really care that much or just showing colleagues how religious they are?

bloodyschool · 14/03/2013 14:11

why don't you think they are interested?

galletti · 14/03/2013 14:12

Yes, they do care, and yes, YABU.

LittleTurtle · 14/03/2013 14:13

Because in general, they do not act all that friendly and religious on school runs. Never really greet others or show friendlyness, but now suddenly.........

IvorWindybottom · 14/03/2013 14:13

Perhaps they are interested, why dont you ask them?

moonstorm · 14/03/2013 14:13

YANBU

Mitchy1nge · 14/03/2013 14:13

haha, how does one act 'friendly and religious'?

Mitchy1nge · 14/03/2013 14:14

on the school run particularly

DreamingofSummer · 14/03/2013 14:15

You're being totally unreasonable. Catholic parents in a Catholic school are bound to be interested in the new Pope

VanitasVanitatum · 14/03/2013 14:18

Depends, if this pope actually does something to change the Catholic Churches attitude to deviant Priests, and people are wishing him well in this hope, then yes, YABU, otherwise YANBU. Last pope left because he couldn't clean up Vatican City.

Latara · 14/03/2013 14:18

I'm reserving my judgement on the new pope until i've read more about the allegations of badness during the years of the Argentinian Junta....

LittleTurtle · 14/03/2013 14:20

How do people act friendly and religious? Oh don't know, maybe they can start by greeting other parents that they see on a daily basis?

OP posts:
WilsonFrickett · 14/03/2013 14:20

I guess you're not 'all religious' then? Hmm

Devout Catholics will care deeply about the new Pope. Even super-lapsed Catholics (like me) wish him well - if he can get to grips and clean up the stinking sordid mess that is the Church, then more power to his elbow.

Mitchy1nge · 14/03/2013 14:22

do they completely blank you when you greet them? Even at church?

ShatnersBassoon · 14/03/2013 14:23

You can be religious and unfriendly. Perhaps the detect a dissenter at the school gates. Perhaps they care more about the new Pope than they do about their peers' children/jobs/the weather.

Mitchy1nge · 14/03/2013 14:24

I am friendly and irreligious at all times in all places.

LittleTurtle · 14/03/2013 14:28

Mitchy, actually I greeted one of them in church and they blanked me at the school run.

Shatner, I thought friendliness was one of the cornerstones of religion - met a few really nice christians

What if i'm not that religious, lost son and all............................lol.

Please note that this is not an angry post.

OP posts:
Mitchy1nge · 14/03/2013 14:31

I hope you meet some friendlier ones, religious or not, if you want. Sorry to hear about your son.

ShatnersBassoon · 14/03/2013 14:34

I don't know if you're doubting those parents' Catholic beliefs, or jealous of the new Pope getting all the attention today Confused

LittleTurtle · 14/03/2013 14:34

Sorry Mitchy, I did not loose a son, but I was referering to the bible lost son and then was found. Band analogy. So sorry.

OP posts:
LittleTurtle · 14/03/2013 14:35

Bad analogy

You point a cross at the other people.

Oh, wait, that's at vampires. Wink

Mitchy1nge · 14/03/2013 14:37

Ah, awkward, ok, my fault - ever eager with the compassion!

Pigsmummy · 14/03/2013 14:41

I am sorry I really don't see why this is a problem? Catholic people interested in huge news in the catholic church? It doesn't get much bigger than this for the faith.

ilovesooty · 14/03/2013 14:41

Well, she obviously managed to put up a good enough show to get her child into the school, judging by her OP.

LittleTurtle · 14/03/2013 14:44

erm, we are surrounded by religious schools, my child has to get an education somehow. By the way, we pay for part of that 'religious' school. Does not matter how religious we are.
