How do I deal with petty neighbours who are trying to annoy me?.

My neighbours are inconsiderate they have done the following.

Damaged my property with fag butts,They will leave their fag butts on my drive they have put them on my car they will make up stories that are not true and report us to housing.

Recently I have noticed scratches on the car and writing on the car in the dirt, have advised police and Ha .

Would I be unreasonable to put a camcorder in my window and do I need a sign to let them know they are being recorded.

Also Just to add I have been threatened by one of them what can I do to protect my family.

Keep a record of everything, day, date ,time , who was involved, duration if a noise issue.
Report to local council, they will advise.
Not sure about the camcorder seek advice from the CAB.
Do not engage with them or escalate the situation.
It is hard sometimes to want to rise to the bait as it were but don't, put it all through official bodies.
Keep records of letters you send to council/HA and make a note whenever you speak to police/council/HA hth

Thank you so much just gave a 10 page document to our HA, she said just ignore petty things do not not engage and record and keep a diary of everything.

If property is damaged then contact the police and go from there and get a incident number.

Good it seems like you are getting the right advise. Just phone the CAB about the camcorder if you go down that route.
you have my sympathies. nuisance neighbours seen to like a reaction, so be strong.

I wouldnt tell them they are being filmed, that way you can catch them in the act.

why are they doing this to you, OP?

we -DC and I- had similar with past neighbours, just cos Im ugly and disabled and DCs disabled...we had same landlord and I complained about disability discrimination and they were told to leave us alone but they just did worse and we were petrified for our safety, as usual, SS and police did F.A .about it and we ended up having to move.

And WHY THE F DO THESE F* GET AWAY WITH IT????? ALWAYS????

HollyBerryBush · 12/03/2013 20:48

Covert filming isn't admissable in court. In fact you could be prosecuted for it.

PartyFops · 12/03/2013 20:52

You can record anything within the boundaries of your own home, so have it high pointing down. You don't need a sign for that.

Good luck!

marjproops · 12/03/2013 20:52

what Holly says about filming...seek CAB or landlord advice, as neighbours are damaging your property/possesions you should be able to do SOMETHING to prove it.

PartyFops · 12/03/2013 20:56

Can I just add that I work for a HA Grin

Wavebreaker · 12/03/2013 21:05
