It is in my house. And every smile, thanks and hug means so much more to me than any bunch of flowers ever would.

YABU today I got to lie in til 11 O'clock, breakfast in bed and am having a lovely lunch cooked for me. Plus presents.

I might get all of these things seperately from time to time but having a random day in which they all happen AND dh agrees to change all dirty nappies is ace!

Yup, DD saying the most hurtful things to siblings she can think of, furiously shrieking and screaming at me that I'm ungrateful and a Horrible Mother, entirely the normal "application" I've come to expect.

And she wonders why I'm not interested in her gift.

I do agree a bit, but having a "day" means it forces us to stop and think about it.

Incidentally, in Eastern Europe, International Women's Day is the big day, and they have parties celebrating women and womanhood. I really like that idea.

My DC have given me lovely thoughtful gifts and hand made cards. They have made it really special (with DH's help).

I'm already looking forward to helping them make Fathers Day special.

emblosion I get all those things every weekend because my husband knows I'm a lazy sod appreciates me cooking every night during the week and making him a packed lunch every day for work.

HorribleMother how old is your DD? Is it just a teenage phase? My daughter did go through a time like that when she was about 15. She's 19 now and with hindsight realises how lucky she's been. She's away with her university this weekend but next week is coming over for a week to do some decorating for me in preparation for the arrival of her baby brother.

I got a lie in until nearly 11am

Then big cuddles with DS who is now having his nap whilst I eat croissants, fanny about on MN and read the papers

When DS wakes up I will get a card he has scrawled in with his chubby hands, more cuddles, then a long hot bath, then off for Sunday dinner with my DM where I can present her with a big bunch of flowers and the cookies me and DS have baked and iced for her

Well, if you're not religious in the Christian tradition, then both the concept and history of Mothering Sunday probably are unreasonable/irrelevant.

Both mothers and fathers day are newish inventions, and I don't go in much for either.

YABU.
My 2ds get so excited a few days before so who am I to say no to abit of pampering...which I also get during the year btw.
And I will be cooking my lovely Mum dinner later.
