I actually feel like I have sold my soul now Blush

But, to be fair, the outdoors play equipment that you could win is fantastic Wink

Just hope they don't spam my FB feed with updates every 5 minutes Grin

SpareHeadThree · 09/03/2013 22:15

Somebody on my FB has just liked and shared the netmums slide thing. Now wondering if you have a little boy and a little girl?! Grin
I go on both sites too. Just don't tell everyone else on here let's keep it a secret Grin

Wewereherefirst · 09/03/2013 22:15

I won a camping set from them, it's more than I've ever won on here!

I may have liked and shared too

ceebeegeebies · 09/03/2013 22:17

Nope, I have 2 delightful boys Grin

Funnily enough, one of my friends who had already shared it (hence it appearing on my FB feed) is also on here plus another of my friends who has subsequently shared it is also on here so I am not alone Grin

IneedAgoldenNickname · 09/03/2013 22:24

Well I liked netmums, and found that 3 of my friends already had, but can't find this competition of which you speak :(

ceebeegeebies · 09/03/2013 22:26

Have a look at the photos on their FB page and there will be one of a slide/climbing frame - you just need to share that photo aswell Smile

I am not helping my cause by encouraging others to like the page either am I? At least I won't be the only one with sparkly shit in my hair in the morning Wink

OP posts:
IneedAgoldenNickname · 09/03/2013 22:29

I looked down their page and couldn't find it. Guess I didn't look long enough!

IneedAgoldenNickname · 09/03/2013 22:35

I liked the photo, but can't share it. Mind you, it wouldn't fit in my garden anyway

That style of "Share to win" competition against the Facebook Ts and Cs for how to run a competition. And a pretty massive slip up for a Facebook page/brand with that much of an active Facebook page. And the links to the official Ts and Cs aren't even working. That's a really really poor piece of marketing and I'd be concerned that their method of picking the winner would be equally illegitimate.

Facebook bans pages for breaking their competition rules. Would be dreadful if someone reported them.

ceebeegeebies · 10/03/2013 11:52

Rapunzel really?? I have seen loads of the 'Share to Win' type competitions on FB so I assumed they would be perfectly legitimate Shock

These are the Facebook rules around running a promotion.

i. Promotions on Facebook must be administered within Apps on Facebook.com, either on a Canvas Page or a Page App.

ii. Promotions on Facebook must include the following:

a. A complete release of Facebook by each entrant or participant.

b. Acknowledgment that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook.

c. Disclosure that the participant is providing information to [disclose recipient(s) of information] and not to Facebook.

iii. You must not condition registration or entry upon the user taking any action using any Facebook features or functionality other than liking a Page, checking in to a Place, or connecting to your app. For example, you must not condition registration or entry upon the user liking a Wall post, or commenting or uploading a photo on a Wall.

iv. You must not use Facebook features or functionality as a promotion?s registration or entry mechanism. For example, the act of liking a Page or checking in to a Place cannot automatically register or enter a promotion participant.

v. You must not use Facebook features or functionality, such as the Like button, as a voting mechanism for a promotion.

vi. You must not notify winners through Facebook, such as through Facebook messages, chat, or posts on profiles (timelines) or Pages.

The netmums competition breaks every single rule. It's not run through an app, there are no accessible terms and conditions which state that Facebook is not liable for the competition, or that, by entering this competition you agree to not hold Facebook liable for anything and they use a Facebook mechanism (sharing) for entry. They must be planning to notify winners through Facebook, as they're not asking for names and emails.

Basically, it's a huge mess. All the share to win competitions are, you have no reasonable chance of winning, they're totally illegitimate and there is the chance of getting into trouble if Facebook get arsey and have a crackdown.

I do loads of Facebook promotions for companies. Companies who don't do it properly drive me up the wall.
