to wish that Sainsbury's hadn't got rid of all long-sleeved girls tops?

DD has just grown out of her 2-3 tops, so I went to buy some 3-4 and they had changed their entire girls stock to short-sleeved t-shirts. In the sale section they had a few - the usual age inappropriate left-overs e.g. Peppa Pig age 10-11, and millions in 0-12 months. It's the beginning of March and it's been snowing today. Surely I'm not the only person who wants to buy a few more warm clothes?

surely Sainsburys are not the only clothes retailer you could go to though..

YA soooo NBU. I had exactly the same thing with DS last week, as he's had a growth spurt. Am scouring EBay for tops in his size that ate suitable for this weather. It's maddening enough that adult clothes are never available for the weather we've actually got, but for small children it's lunatic. Who seriously buys their child's summer wardrobe 4 months in advance?

Pisses me right off in the summer because I like dd to cover up in long sleeves instead of smearing her in suncream but from March onwards you can only buy little strappy tops and t-shirts for girls in most shops. Long sleeved, loose cotton tops are like gold dust come June.

Bought cheap long sleeved tops in mothercare a couple of weeks ago.

Had the same problem looking for school uniform for my ds. He's shot up in the last few months so his trousers were ankle swingers.
Finally managed to get green v neck jumpers in Asda.

I put lightweight long sleeved tops underneath t shirts for DS. However can I find reasonably priced cotton cardigans anywhere for a 6 year old boy??

Yanbu. If we're lucky we get 3 warm months a year. Mine tend to stick to long sleeved t-shirts.

Actually, I did buy 6yo DS a cool one in H&M today. But they had more choice in short sleeve t-shirts.

yabu if you started this thread based on one shop! Mothercare have stacks of things in the sale with long sleeves.

YANBU, I've been looking for a new wooly hat for the 16mo, we live in the North of Scotland and she'll probably be wearing one till May! Haven't found one yet!

I'm not going to be able to get to any other shops for a few days because I can't usually go in the daytime - I guess I could go to Asda, but I imagine they'll be the same. Will try Mothercare when I do get to town - thank you Smartiepants79. She'll have to wear her brothers' until then. I always said I'd dress her in their clothes, but DS2 is so small she caught him up a year ago and they've been in the same size since.

It drives me crazy how the shops change their stock way too soon. I wanted a new coat for DD a few weeks back, as hers was getting tatty, and couldn't find one anywhere. It was Freezing outside, and the all the shops were selling shorts and t shirts! I had to buy quite a thin one in the end, and put layers under it.

Also, as soon as August arrives, all you can buy are jumpers etc..... WHY???

I will be complaining to them as well - obviously their crap buying/stocking policy is harming their sales, as I am going to have to go elsewhere. (eventually, when I get a chance).

well I have been in Tesco and primark lately and both have had long sleeved tops. also saw hats in Asda!

I had midwinter babies when I went to replace newborn clothes in march it was all summer stuff. By June, July it was all to small and the shops were getting winter stock in!

We don't have Tesco (only postcode in the UK that doesn't!) and Primark is another daytime shop - but I will try to get there sometime soon (before they change their stock).

There was some lovely stock in our Sainsburys last week - long sleeved 4 pack t shirts, very Boden like / vintage (grey, mustard flowers etc) They were the older girls ones otherwise I would have brought for Dd (19months) I wonder if they're now in the sale? Popping in tomorrow, I can hve a look and purchase and post if you need - PM me.

I got some nice long sleeved ones from Boots this week - you could order on line instead of popping in to the shops?

Online? Tesco, asda, h&m etc all do online kids clothes. I was looking on h&m kids this evening and they definitely have girls long sleeve tops and they're nice too!

Between Fadbook and online I will cope and hopefully I can sort Paintingrainbowskies out. Just ranting about Sainsbury's really - I have an ongoing gripe they have no stock control, so they never restock things that have run out. I can buy online, of course, but I actually quite like to look at clothes and check the fabric, length, etc. And I do like quite a lot of the Sainabury's children's clothes. Obviously I need to get a life so that I can go to normal shops more regularly and expand my range.

Am v grumpy at the mo with Sainsbury's; DD is a 3 year old giant so needs new vests & pyjamas - Sainsbury's, in their "wisdom" no longer do a size 4 to 5 in underwear or sleepwear, just jump from 3-4 to age 5. Grrr.....

Wrt t shirts I get boys underwear t shirts from M&S which are lovely and soft and thin enough to wear under things. Quite inexpensive too, they do girls versions but the boys stuff is white so a bit more useful than pink!

Asda and Tesco have both got LOADS of long sleeved girls tops in their new summer ranges. Plus plenty of long sleeve/leggings outfits. Don't imagine they are the same as Sainsbury - because they aren't at all. I find Sainsbury girls range a bit crappy by comparison. DD has a few bits from there but they never seem to have much choice at all compared to Asda or Tesco.

Next and M & S also have plenty of long sleeves in the new season ranges (can you tell I've been buying DDs summer wardrobe? Yes some people do buy in advance - I'm one of them!)

I don't understand this either?! In February they started bringing out spring stock when it was bloody snowing. Exactly how hot does it get in this country? And don't get me started about dresses and tops with no sleeves.

Next have sent me a summer catalogue, little lad next to DH borrowed his giant gloves in church this morning.

I have exactly the same problem buying my DS some new bigger jumpers. It's bloody snowing and both Asda and Sainsbury's have cracked out the t-shirts. I had to buy him some thermal vests instead.
