to not want to see my mum on Mothers Day?

I didn't think much of it tbh until I mentioned to someone today and they were like "what? you're not going to see your own mother on mother's day??"

My mum comes once or twice a week (EVERY week) to see ds anyway, so will be expecting her in the week, when I will give her a present and card. Once/twice a week of seeing my mum is kind of enough for me.

Friend seemed to think I should go and see her but it's a bloody long bus ride (45 mins) plus I wanted to try and catch up with some uni work tomorrow daytime while ds had his dvd and computer time. So then friend suggested I invite my mum to mine for dinner but I'm just not feeling it...I would literally be forcing myself for the sake of mothers day. Am I being selfish?

I dont think your selfish. Im not seeing my mum on mothers day, id have to get a bus, which is a nnightmare round here on a sunday. I dontn think shes too offended shes got her card and i'll give her some flowers when i see her tuesday probably.

i don't think it's selfish. you see her enough.

Of course you shouldn't force yourself to see your mum.

I can vaguely see the point in forcing yourself if you never have any contact with your mother other than mothers day, but like all these forced celebrations it makes so much more sense to not need a special day but make the important people in your life important all year round.

No I don't think you are being selfish.

I see my mum every Thursday so I gave her a card and flowers then. If they lived round the corner then obviously I would pop round tomorrow but its an hours drive away.

I'm looking forward to spending the day with my two little DDs Smile

I have no interest to go and see my mom either. I haven't since before Christmas...don't want to either... I love her dearly, but she causes so much stress in my life...

whethergirl · 09/03/2013 22:50

I did say to the friend, well I'm a mother too, and I want to spend it at home with my ds, but she was even more Shock. Anyway, I'll call her tomorrow but I'm not going, I'm seeing her on Tuesday anyway ffs. It just seems so false to force an outing just because someone has labelled a day as Mother's Day.

I'm seeing mine on Monday like always. I left her a card last week and will ring her tomorrow and tell her where.

It's my first Mother's Day tomorrow, her 34th and Our Kid is round the corner to visit her.
