I've had these pale finger marks on my silver car for ages and have not been able to clean them off, even with a wash. You can only see them at a certain angle and from the size they are my DS's handprint. I couldn't work out how it happened.

Today, I collected my car from the body shop as it had been involved in an accident. The mechanic pointed the marks out and said just be careful about suncream - it can damage your paintwork if you get it on your car by accident and don't wipe it off straight away. shock

Does anyone know if this is true? And did you know about it?

yes we've had a handprint on the dashboard surround for 6 months+ !
it is slowly fading though.

I have got a few suncream handprints on my car. They've been there ages now. But since I plan on running this car until it needs scrapping, it's no problem.

Oil, some soaps and sometimes even just greasy hands, can do the same.

Bird poo is really bad for car paintwork too.

Yes, we learnt the hard way. Children with suncream on do not touch the cars exterior now.

yes, so does the hand gel for cleaning hands if you dont rub it i long enough to evaporate
