So upset about a night out

One of my good friends has offered to take me out for my birthday. She asked me about 7 weeks ago giving me plenty of notice to arrange babysitters & save a little cash.
Despite asking all my family & friends I have been unable to arrange anyone to watch even 1 of the dc .
I am sat here in tears. I don't ever ask people to babysit. I haven't been on a night out for over 2 years. I am a sp.

Are the twins at nursery at all? Friends of mine have used nursery staff in the past. Or an agency would work, even if you had to save.

I'm sorry you didn't get your night out, it's such a wrench when you've been looking forward to something and in the end you're just left with this horrible reminder that it really is all down to you. Chin up :) And next time you offer babysitting favours make sure you make a comment about them returning the favour!

OP I am NEFife and could help if you are this way. Can't help if you are further south though as would need to get dh to drop me off and collect me again. I would also need to take my 9 month old but he is very laid back so should be ok.

But may I suggest that you use this as an opportunity to re-evaluate your "friendships" and start saying no to people?

It's great that people are so helpful on here but I wouldn't accept strangers from the net to come to my home and look after my kids for a night out. Don't do it op.

This may sound like a silly suggestion but what about their father? He should take some responsibility for his offspring.

Please don't get a stranger off gum tree or the Internet. I know it's rare but you would never forgive yourself if the worst happened (recently read a story about someone who got a babysitter off gum tree who used his brothers I'd and crb chek etc and he abused the children:-(. )

Thanks for all your replies. I do appreciate all the offers of help, however I wouldn't be comfortable having a stranger look after them.
I will try to organise another time but think I may have to accept that my friends & family are not going to help.

News flash!!! 20mins ago my mum & sister have decided they can help after all. I am off out tomorrow from 10-7 . I love my dc dearly but I am so happy to be going out for the day.

So pleased your mum and sis are going to help you out. You manage your twins alone, but is rather daunting and worrying for another person to do on their own. Just finding excuses for your friend's not to have helped.
