Or is it because of my personal history that I am more sensitive?

Work friend today mentioned she had changed pills because previous didn't agree with her. Can't remember when she stopped first and is going to start taking second (Think another week before she takes new one) but anyway Dr told her to use condoms for a week because won't be covered. She has decided she can't be bothered with them - her boyfriend agrees. She then paused and said "It will probably be fine. I wouldn't have a baby at my age (21) though, no way! Am far too young, would just get rid if I got preg."

AIBU to think if you plan on having an abortion if you get pregnant then you should just use condoms or not have sex, it is only a week!

She knows about my history of preg loss, felt she was a bit insensitive saying that too. But I don't know if I am overly shocked by it because of my history iykwim?

What do you think? Is this a common attitude?

YANBU. I would like to meet the 40 year old her in the future and see if her life has made her change her attitude.

wonkylegs · 07/03/2013 07:52

She is a insensitive idiot and a great advert for why sex / contraception should be taught from an early age, as for some it certainly doesn't sink in.

I think that this attitude is actually still rare but it's shocking when you come across it and therefore these instances are more memorable / newsworthy than the vast majority of non idiots.

Doesn't really add up. If she was that blasé about contraception I'd expect her to be rather cavalier about taking the pill, too. My suspicion is that her BF refuses to wear a condom and she doesn't want to deny him or cause a row. That, sadly, is a hugely increasing problem among the younger generation today.

Regardless, of course YANBU. It shows a terrible lack of respect for life and her own sexual, physical and emotional health.

YANBU
A colleague of mine had her 5th when we worked together and helpfully left her aftercare pamphlets from the hospital lying round the office, I was recovering from an ectopic at the time.
