I have a 6 year old boy who HATES dressing up of any sort, it really upsets him. There have been two already this academic year and now there are two dressing up days in the next two weeks.

I am having trouble with ideas for the second theme......superheroes. Does anyone have any bright ideas how I can dress up a boy who hates costumes, hats, glasses and face paint as a superhero? FGS.

AIBU not to dress him up and not to pay the 'fee' for wearing dress up clothes either? AIBU to think that schools should have fewer dressing up days anyway, for the parent's sanity and also how much these costumes cost?

Slick his hair back, camera round his neck - Peter Parker (spiderman). Done.

A t shirt with Ben 10, Superman, Spiderman, from any supermarket or Next. He can just wear it with jeans etc, it's all most of us do here.

White lab coat and remind everyone not to make him angry.

Oh and YANBU.

We had a letter home from school last week, saying "we realise that there are a lot of dressing up days coming up. To relieve the pressure, we are not going to dress up on WBD but will be doing lots of reading. On Red Nose Day children can wear noses / fancy dress / their own clothes as appropriate".

I think I may love the new headmaster.

My son hates dressing up as well, for superhero day he wore his Batman tshirt into school, no fuss or gassle.
Some kids just dont "do" dressing up..

getmeoutofthismadhouse · 04/03/2013 00:57

My son says hes too old for dressing up , hes 8. I think they have took the excitement out of it now by having too many. It almost felt "naughty" to dress up when I as at school , so we loved it. Kids are bored now of it having 4 -5 times per year ! Amd don't get me started on pyjama days in the middle of winter ....

Yes, just put a superhero t shirt on. If he's not bothered about doing it, then let him not do it.
