Recently there has been a huge operation to rid the area of dealers as far as possible.

This has resulted in many court cases and will be an ongoing thing, as new dealers have moved in they have been rounded up.

Crime, in the last month alone, has dropped by 72%. I knew that drugs were responsible for a lot of crime but that is an amazing drop! Take alcohol out of the equation too and I would live in a virtually crime free area. A friend of DH's works in an area of the police that crosses over various departments and he said that domestic incidents and child related incidents have fallen too, presumably because people arent getting off their heads on drugs and then kicking off when they get home. Referrals to drug centres have gone up by 33%, although the cynical part of me wonders if many of those are to get methadone because anything is better than nothing.

I am just shocked at just how much crime was directly related to drugs in such a small town. If you think the odd joint or line at a party is harmless, think again.

I'm suprised it has gone down.

When the same thing was done where I used to live all the junkies went a bit mad, some were found in the local hospital trying to steal drugs.

I think it's estimated that 90% of crime is drug related.

There was an empty house in our street. Everyone thought it was the builders coming and going. It was a canabis factory Shock
