HumpheadWrasse Try a 30F

HumpheadWrasse · 02/03/2013 21:52

Wowsers, DH would be pleased! Thanks Smile

lookout · 02/03/2013 21:58

Well, have just ordered a whole load of different bras to try, in 34FF (which I am really struggling to believe I will actually fit into) and 36F. I am actually more excited than I have been since Christmas Grin Will let you know how I get on.

MrsKeithRichards · 02/03/2013 22:00

You guys rock, you should be knighted, this is amazing. Dh came home, his eyes popped out his head!

He gave me a row for buying cheap bras though and pointed out they're the one thing I have to wear all day every day. Will get saving for a splurge.

SorrelForbes · 02/03/2013 22:08

MrsKeithRichards I like the sound of your DH!

Hey, I'm 29 under, 35 over - what should I do re. Band size? Thanks!

MrsKeithRichards · 02/03/2013 22:31

He's a bit of a boob fan.

CelticPromise · 02/03/2013 22:34

Artemis start with a 28F. You're likely to get better support from the smaller band size. If the band itself is really too tight try a 30, remembering to go down in the cup.

WishYouWereMine · 02/03/2013 22:48

Rightiho... I'm sitting here in my new 38FF bra... and it was really comfy yesterday in the shop, but I've found today that it's started riding up a bit at the back and I've had to adjust a couple of times :(
What's the problem?

ArtemisatBrauron · 02/03/2013 22:50

Shock wow... I'm wearing a 34 C, how wrong could I be?! Definitely going bra shopping tomorrow, totally justified since my haste to get my bra off and measure caused the strap to rip Blush so I'm one down...

ArtemisatBrauron · 02/03/2013 22:51

Thanks celtic btw, sorry, shock has robbed me of manners!

CelticPromise · 02/03/2013 22:55

Wish back riding up suggests it is too big. If you were wearing a bigger band the 38 may have felt tight initially but in fact be a bit loose, if that makes any sense. Did you try anything in a 36 band?

Good news is, I'm told it's quite easy to alter a band that's too big.

WishYouWereMine · 02/03/2013 22:57

OK.. no I didn't try a 36.. it does feel quite tight and leaves red marks.. I could just try tightening the band - it's on the first hooks right now.

JoA19 · 02/03/2013 22:58

This is fascinating! I've been wearing a 36D (measured at M&S) and I can pull the band right out from my chest and it definitely doesn't give me a flattering shape! I just measured myself the way you suggest and I get 30 under boobs and 40 around. Does that make me a 30GG?? Thank you :)

CelticPromise · 02/03/2013 22:59

Ha Artemis have fun! You're not as far out as you think, cup volume in a 34C is close to a 28F but on a smaller band.

SorrelForbes · 02/03/2013 23:00

JoA19 Yes, try a 30GG.

CelticPromise · 02/03/2013 23:00

Yes Jo 30GG to start, try a size or two either side. Happy shopping!

CelticPromise · 02/03/2013 23:01

Night Sorrel. Hope you have recovered from your M&S fitting today!

SorrelForbes · 02/03/2013 23:02

Night, off to bed now. I think so! I'm actually a bit miffed that M&S haven't replied to the blogs!

JoA19 · 02/03/2013 23:11

Thanks :)

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/03/2013 23:27

Night Sorrel! Maybe M&S don't work weekends....

Waiting for my brastop delivery!

Question while I wait though, for ladies with erm, a squishier figure, does a tighter back band mean a bulgy back where the band squishes? I get that the underarm bulges can be pushed forwards into the cup, but surely the fat along where the band goes has to create some bulge itself?

Does this make tops / dresses look bad from behind? Is the overall change in frontage enough to outweigh the behind bulge and strap line?

Just wondering what to expect when I try my bras on?

Thanks again!

Eastpoint · 03/03/2013 08:10

Bump

SorrelForbes · 03/03/2013 08:25

Double. It's one of the odd things about bras that having a tight enough back and big enough cup helps eliminate back fat. I had loads in the 36Ds that M&S put me in yesterday (!) but none in my 30Gs. A lot of the back fat is caused by the bad being in the wrong place and not being tight enough to hold all the flesh where it should be held. When you scoop you do need to grab flesh from as far round as you can. Much of it is migrated breast tissue!
