To think little boys can be a bit disgusting sometimes?

DS is 4, I love him to bits but he keeps grossing me out at the moment. If he's not eating bogeys he's making dodgy smells (on purpose), burping or exploring his body parts in great detail. Where has my sweet little baby gone that smelt of vanilla and cake? AIBU to feel this way?

I used to store ALL my used bubblegum (bought secretly) under my bed. There was loads.

I think all kids are a bit gross :o but must say most adult men I know don't go round farting/talking about willies and shit all the time, why would they do that?! Surely they only do that if their parents have been all indulgent and "tsk, boys, what can you do - they're all like that!" when they are growing up.

AmberLeaf · 28/02/2013 13:33

I think children people in general can be a bit gross TBH!

I know someone who when she was a little girl had a gallery of dried out picked bogies on her bedroom wall next to her bed, from when she lay in bed at night picking her nose! no prizes for guessing who I am talking about

But yes, the smells do get worse, then they are taken over by the evocative scent of Lynx body spray, not sure which is worse.

My teen boys are now very good at personal hygiene and shower without fail daily, but they still delight in tricking me and each other into smelling their noxious farts 'come and look at this' they say, then when you get close enough it hits you and they roll about laughing.

I don't know where they get it from Hmm Grin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/02/2013 13:33

Teenage boys are pretty vile, in my experience. Crusty tissues - that's all I'm going to say!

gingeme · 28/02/2013 13:34

Oh where shall I start. Ds 4 forever picking his nose and eating it. Playing with his 'heavy willy' Shock all the time. Ds 5 announcing at the top of his voice ' I farted ' whereever we are. Ds 3 telling a man on the bus the other day ' Im going to have a hairy willy when I grow up like my Daddy' . Farting and burping competitions at the breakfast table. Shouting 'er poo !' every time they see dog poo and laughing as if its the funniest thing in the world......

freddiefrog · 28/02/2013 13:35

I don't think it's just confined to boys to be honest

Last week I spent a good hour scrubbing dried up snot and bogies off the wall next to DD2's bed.

gingeme · 28/02/2013 13:36

I used to do the bogie thing too Amberleaf Wink

AmberLeaf · 28/02/2013 13:43

gingeme a kindred spirit and freddiefrogs DD too Smile

AmberLeaf · 28/02/2013 13:45

If any of my boys do a particularly long-without any breakage poo, they have been known to call their brothers in to look and marvel at the wonder of the giant turd.

Foggles · 28/02/2013 13:47

marvel at the wonder of the giant turd. Grin Grin

Do you think they would still like to do that when they grow up? I suspect they would.

gingercat12 · 28/02/2013 13:47

This thread really cheered me up. I thought DS (aged 4) was gross sometimes (although still smells of roses), but after reading this thread I am not sure [ROFL].

AmberLeaf · 28/02/2013 13:49

It's quite likely Foggles!

I will admit to feeling proud if I produce an impressive one. I don't show people though!

Vickibee · 28/02/2013 13:49

My Ds aged 6 puts his ottom in the air abd poops in your face, the louder the better and thinks it is hilarious.

freddiefrog · 28/02/2013 13:50

LOL at giant poos, DD2 is also particularly impressed at the size of her poo.

She called me into the bathroom the other day to show me a particularly large one as she 'couldn't believe she could fit all that up her bum'

Skullnbones · 28/02/2013 13:52

My dd is just as gross as her older brother. Every morning she sits to have her hair brushed on my knee and farts without fail and thinks it is hysterical.

Whirliwig72 · 28/02/2013 13:53

I'm sure I heard in the Food Doctor than a long unbroken turd is a sign of great health - so well done boys!!!!Grin

Poo is the favorite word in our house at the moment !

StuntGirl · 28/02/2013 13:55

Girls can be as equally gross as boys. Children in general are fascinated by the gross things in life. So YABU.

BarbarianMum · 28/02/2013 13:56

These are known as 'otters' in our house. Within the family, naturally - not to be shared with outsiders.

AmberLeaf · 28/02/2013 13:57

Ooh really Whirliwig?

I shall pass that on to the boys, they will be pleased!

babiesinslingsgetcoveredinfood · 28/02/2013 13:58

My dd (3) is minging. She delights in her poo; it's size, shape & smell. I told her one day her fart was stoking & she actually said 'yeah, but it smells nice though'

My DS is only 11 months & is already laughing at his burps & grinning & saying 'poo!' When he farts. He also plays with his willy constantly if his nappy is off.

AmberLeaf · 28/02/2013 13:59

My youngest son refers to particularly large turds that cause discomfort on exit as 'spiky poos'

He says they feel as though they have spikes on! and is always surprised that on examination they are in fact smooth if a tad thick

I know exactly what he means.

moonstorm · 28/02/2013 14:03

They don't have to behave that way... If you do nothingnow, how will they know it's not acceptable behaviour? Maybe those men who grow up to be immature have parents who say 'boys will be boys' or that their parents felt they had to lower themselves to their level...

Children are children...

Runoutofideas · 28/02/2013 14:04

My 7 yr old dd1 has terrible wind. She calls her farts her "secret weapon" as they are "silent but deadly"!

I don't think it is a boy thing, DDs can be just as bad (I have more than one of each gender). Also teenage girls do plenty of gross things-believe me I have two of them! People are so negative about boys :(
