Shower gel for hair washing.

DH thinks shower gel (standard Simple shower gel for use on skin) is fine for washing ds's hair. I think, why use shower gel when we have perfectly good kids shampoo?

Dh thinks I'm being picky, I think dh is being odd.

Please settle the argument - who is BU?

If you have shampoo, use it Confused it's fine if there's no alternative, but to pick it when you actually have shampoo is a bit odd. Not the end of the world, but odd.

Same shit different bottle. I used to spend an extortionate amount on shampoos and conditioners. I have thick curly dry hair, and I have found using a cheap and cheerful shampoo has helped my hair not to be so dry. And if I run out I just use my sainsbos own brand shower gel. A lot of 'mens' shower gels are for hair too so I am with your DH on this.

If you look at the ingredients they are almost identical.

BooCanary · 24/02/2013 19:41

Dd has very long thick hair which needs a decent shampoo and conditioner ( the knots!), so we always have kids shampoo. Dh has very little hair so always shower gel.

Hmm, was hoping for a unanimous DH BU Grin .

Nope, I'm with you, I'd use the shampoo, unless we'd run out.

I think when shower gel first came out it was marketed as an all over wash to use on body and hair?

It was a long time ago so I may be wrong.

ps. I often use shower gel to wash my hair

Dawndonna · 24/02/2013 19:49

I have very, very thick hair on my head (despite having alopecia elsewhere) and I use whatever's in the shower. Sometimes it's 'lush' stuff, sometimes it's mens stuff, sometimes it's soap and shampoo. (By shampoo it's superdrug raspberry for my dds very long hair).
So really, it doesn't matter.

Sarahplane · 24/02/2013 19:52

shampoo definitely. your dh is being odd.

montage · 24/02/2013 19:52

I would be happier using shampoo as shower gel than vice versa somehow. Perhaps he could wash dd in shampoo instead Wink

BooCanary · 24/02/2013 19:56

I know some shower gels say for hair AND body, but this one just said 'for skin'. I want to win the argument so much I scrutinised the bottle Blush .

Did you scrutinise the ingredients?!

Dh and DS always wash their hair with shower gel after swimming, I'd not really thought that much about it tbh

BooCanary · 24/02/2013 20:36

Some ingredients were the same and some slightly different. So many of them, all with long names - too much for my tiny unscientific brain!

Don't wash. End of.
