I may be being U but I really hate this thread title. If a man had started a thread entitled 'Yeah I'd give Kiera Knightley a go' (or whoever) I would automatically think he was a bit of a dick.

I don't really see the difference here. The language is horrible and it's just....nasty.

I think I'll cope because let's face it, women aren't really in the position to grab someone and force him to have sex with them.

Ah well that makes it ok to ape sexist language used by men then....Confused

We're laughing because this is a situation everyone recognises doesn't exist in reality. And women cannot be sexist because we are not in a position of power.

We can be unpleasant, unkind and cruel but I don't think this thread is any of those things.

Anyway to drag things back to the OP's question: Dominic as Jimmy McNulty, or anyone else for that matter, does nothing for me and nomdeprune is dead right about the frog mouth. He's also got too much skin around his face like a sharpei. That's a bit unkind. But somehow I think Dominic will be able to cope.

Idris Elba never used to but I'm coming round to him. In The Wire I was an Avon Lady.

CountryKitten Lighten up, its meant to be a lighthearted thread, because in reality, how many of us would have a chance in hell, get a grip.

Women cannot be sexist?!!!!

Prize for the most idiotic post I have ever read on MN.

GBBB - it's the horrible language I object to. And 'lighten up' sound just the same sort of shitty comment that a man would say to a woman if she objected to him speaking in this way. Oh the irony.

This is totally off the debate - but I have been puzzling over Idris Elba being in a film/production called 'The Wire I was an Avon Lady' and wondering how come I wasn't aware of this piece of film brilliance.

And then I reread .......

Had many a naughty dream about him while working through The Wire box sets. Don#t fancy him in real life though, poshness does nothing for me. (Someone I know worked with him and said that he is lovely, but not very bright.)

But as McNulty, vulnerable, tough, damaged, alcoholic with warped principles and logic. I so would. A knee-trembler in the mean streets of Baltimore.
And I don't feel bad about objectifying him, he can objectify me right back. Any time.

Whilst I disagree with country kitten as I do a a SOH, I do agree with her that women can be sexist.

That definition of sexism isn't mine, it's an established one with which I happen to agree.

But that's not what the thread's about and there's nothing wrong with it.

So, back to the thread.

I looked forwards to Daniels' many nude scenes in the later series of The Wire. He hadn't much of a face but that body...And it was so vital to the plot, making him take off his police uniform week after week after putting in so many hours in the gym. I expect he had strong words to say about being objectified like that.
