To think sofas are for sitting on, not lying on.

I know I am (maybe!) but for some reason it drives me mad that DH doesn't sit on the sofa, he always lies on it. If he wants to lie down, why doesn't he go upstairs instead of taking up all the room.
Grrr. . . Grin

YABU
Lying across the sofa all cosy and comfy is one of the nicest things you can do

BeechAvenue · 21/02/2013 18:42

Lying on the sofa is great, as long as other people aren't sitting on the floor or required to stand behind you fanning you with palm fronds.

Are you like my FIL, who also believe that 'beds are for lying on, not sitting on'? As a boy, my DH was required to match his posture strictly to the designated purpose of each piece of furniture.

mrsjay · 21/02/2013 18:44

yabvu I love a lie on my sofa I even having a napping blankie why dont you like it , it is comfy to lie down dont you like your husband dont you want him to be comfortable Grin

MrsEricBana · 21/02/2013 18:45

Don't go down the 2 sofas route! We have 2, DH reclines on "his" and I perch forlornly on the other - I am not allowed on his sofa with him!

SelfconfessedSpoonyFucker · 21/02/2013 18:45

We bought our first sofa because it fit us both perfectly when we lay down on it so I think you know my answer. We have always had another chair or two for people who want to sit.

TheChimpParadox · 21/02/2013 18:45

Lying on sofa with blanket over you (or throw Hmm) is even better !

mrsjay · 21/02/2013 18:47

my mum has recliners now she never actually sits upright anymore I was at my aunts with her the other week and I could see her fiddiling about at the side of the chair I said erm mum no recliner dear Grin

DIYapprentice · 21/02/2013 18:49

YABCompletelyU!!

I sit on the sofa with guests, lap dinners, and working on the laptop. Otherwise I'm lying down.

BoysWillGrow · 21/02/2013 18:50

Just realised i have never EVER laid on my sofa, whats wrong with me?

dp does this weird crab like thing whilst sitting in an arm chair, his body is slightly twisted but with one leg up on the arm of it Confused

Pandemoniaa · 21/02/2013 18:50

There's no point in having a sofa if you can't lie on it! Hogging the only sitting down space is U but lying on a sofa is what is exists for.

AngryFeet · 21/02/2013 18:50

God no. YABVVVU. Are you quite uptight or something? Wink

I always buy sofas that have arms which are comfy to lie your head on, are deep so you can sprawl a bit and are 3 person so you can stretch to your full length.

maddening · 21/02/2013 18:51

Your sofa your rules Grin

We lounge in the lounge/living room. If you had a posh sitting room with expensive sofas then you would expect people to keep feet off the furniture but you would probably have a living room too.

AngryFeet · 21/02/2013 18:52

This sort of thing is horrible. How can you possibly get comfy on that?

mrsjay · 21/02/2013 18:53

Oh id love a posh sitting room oh 2 reception rooms must be such a luxury Grin

GregBishopsBottomBitch · 21/02/2013 18:53

mrsjay · 21/02/2013 18:55

ShatnersBassoon · 21/02/2013 18:56

YABU. I like lying on the sofa when I'm relaxing. I sometimes sit up in bed too. I'm outrageous.

maddening · 21/02/2013 18:57

I know such people mrsjay - they have a fabulous adult only sitting room and a v cosy family room - the rest is fantastic too :)

We have a tiny cottage but got 2 larger 2 seaters and a pile of blankets in the living room. We have a log burner so it used to be v cosy - can't have fire on with ds as I got ridiculously hot.

mrsjay · 21/02/2013 18:59

MrsMushroom · 21/02/2013 18:59

yaNbu! I HATE people who lie on the sofa. It's not a bed! If you want to lie or sleep then go to bed...I do not want to see you dribble and snore.

exoticfruits · 21/02/2013 19:02

Personal choice- I lie on it.

TheFallenNinja · 21/02/2013 19:02

erowid · 21/02/2013 19:02

It depends if you're in my spot or not.

TWinklyLittleStar · 21/02/2013 19:04

We have a vair lovely foot stool thingy so we can both lie out almost completely whilst still only taking up our allocated half of our small sofa :)
