...before letting my baby suck on their public-transport-germ-ridden fingers?

Drives me nuts!!

Yuk, I only touch my baby's mouth if I have just showered. Why are they putting their fingers in the baby's mouth?

ThreeWheelsGood · 20/02/2013 08:50

ew, not unreasonable. I'd get passive aggressive and whip baby's hands away saying "not clean", but then I'm a wuss.

LimeLeafLizard · 20/02/2013 08:54

YANBU. I do this too.

But someone will be along shortly to tell us we're being neurotic and over-protective and that exposure to germs is good for their immune systemsetc etc

catgirl1976 · 20/02/2013 08:56

Hello

I think you're being neurotic and over proctective and exposure to germs is good for their immune systems Grin

If they smoke though YANBU

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2013 08:56

I would be telling the visitors not to put their fingers in the baby's mouth TBH. Why are they doing it? Sad

Snusmumriken · 20/02/2013 08:58

I always asked people to wash their hands before they held my baby. I would have asked them not to put their fingers in his mouth even if their hands were clean.

Snusmumriken · 20/02/2013 08:59

fecal matter on mobiles...yuk

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2013 08:59

I have never stuck my finger in a baby's mouth. Have i missed something?

ChimpMummy · 20/02/2013 09:02

She's a very "sucky" baby and will grab fingers and shove them in her mouth, usually to cries of "oh how adorable she's sucking my finger!" while I cringe.

Sad Chimp. You need one of those anti bac hand gel pumps hanging by the doorbell.

PurpleBlossom · 20/02/2013 09:10

SIL does this!

And yes it gives me rage Angry

SomethingProfound · 20/02/2013 09:21

I was so ready to say YABU, assuming this was to do with a cream sofa or something similar.

However YADNBU, if they went to a restaurant and the chef hadn't washed their hands before cooking their food I would imagine they would be less than pleased, so why is it ok for there unwashed hands to go in a babies mouth?

If I were you I would ask them to wash their hands before holding your DD just say she tends to put hands in her mouth and would they mind washing them.

KellyElly · 20/02/2013 09:26

YABU and a bit crazy to ask people to was their hands before touching your baby unless you want your baby t have no immune system whatsoever. YANBU to tell people not to put their hands in your baby's mouth wtf!!

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 20/02/2013 09:26

I have no idea what anyone would want to stick their finger in a babies mouth Hmm

pumpkinsweetie · 20/02/2013 10:04

Yanbu to not want fingers in your babies mouth, i wouldn't bother telling these people to wash their hands, but i'd tell them to get their grubby mits away from my babies mouth!

Bunfags · 20/02/2013 10:36

I think it's really odd for people to stick their fingers in your baby's mouth! Shock

It's also odd to ask people to wash their hands before touching your baby.

Maybe you could tell people to refrain from putting their fingers in your baby's mouth and not tell them to wash their hands?

NutellaNutter · 20/02/2013 11:14

God this used to drive me crazy when my dcs were babies. W T F do people stick their fingers in babies' mouths?

LRDtheFeministDragon · 20/02/2013 11:18

Ewwww. Why would you stick your finger in a baby's mouth?

Can you not just look concerned and say 'I wouldn't, s/he's just been disgustingly sick'? Wink
